▲There are many medium tanks in the Y series
Hello World of Tanks players, with the arrival of the new Vickers MK3, a Tier X medium tank of the Y Series, the Y Series now has three Tier X medium tanks: the Centurion AX, the No. 5 Concept, and the Vickers MK3. All three tanks have their own characteristics, whether it is the oldest Centurion AX, the only wheeled combat vehicle Concept 5, or the Vickers MK3 main battle tank, which is known for its powerful firepower, all of them have attracted the attention of commanders. However, their performance in battle is different, and this article will compare the performance of these three tanks.
Each has its own strengths
▲The main guns of three tanks
In the game, all three tanks have single-shot main guns. The No. 5 concept car is special, using a 110 mm caliber main gun, with 430 points of damage per shot of armor-piercing shells, and the standard ammunition is AP, and the special ammunition is APCR. The Vickers MK3 main battle tank and the Centurion AX both use 105 mm caliber guns, with 390 damage per shot of armor-piercing shells, APCR for standard ammunition and HEAT for special ammunition. However, the Vickers MK3 main battle tank's standard ammo is a bit faster, which makes them perform differently in terms of firepower.
▲The No. 5 concept car is suitable for evacuation immediately after firing
These 3 tanks all have quite good gun control, the Vickers MK3 main battle tank has the highest accuracy, but the aiming time is inferior to the No. 5 concept car, and the Centurion AX is not as good as the Vickers MK3 main battle tank and the No. 5 concept car, but it is still quite good in the X-tier medium tank. However, the No. 5 Concept is less reloadable, taking 11.45 seconds to reload, making it the lowest in Tier X medium tanks. This makes Concept 5 not suitable for melee combat with enemies, as it will only put it in a difficult situation, and it is better to fire and evacuate.
▲ Centurion AX can sell head fighting
The Vickers MK3 main battle tank and the Centurion AX have a much faster rate of fire than Concept 5, both of which have a DPM of over 3000, and both of them have a 10-degree gun depression angle, compared to 8 degrees for Concept 5. The Centurion AX can also rely on a turret with a certain defensive power to carry out head-selling battles, while the depression angle of the Vickers MK3 main battle tank is all used to find a point to "mount the gun". In terms of firepower, the gun control of these three tanks is very good, but in terms of rate of fire, the No. 5 concept car is much inferior, which also makes the commanders' evaluation of the No. 5 concept car not high.
Defense stands out
▲The turret of the Centurion AX has a certain amount of defense
In the game, the Centurion AX, Concept 5 and Vickers MK3 main battle tanks also have different HP and defense performance. They have a health count of 1950, 1800 and 1900 respectively, and the No. 5 Concept has a significantly lower HP, which is also in line with its wheeled combat characteristics. In terms of armor protection, the Centurion AX's defense is the best, its turret frontal equivalent thickness is about 250 mm, and it can still bounce off some shells in real combat. However, if the enemy uses special ammunition, or aims more accurately, the turret of the Centurion AX is still unreliable.
▲ Concept 5 and Vickers MK3 main battle tank are best kept away from the enemy
And the Vickers MK3 main battle tank, like the No. 5 concept car, does not have the advantage of defense. The turret and hull armor of these two tanks are basically only a few tens of millimeters thick, and can even be penetrated by high-explosive shells, and only the front of the turret of the No. 5 concept car still has 150 millimeters, which occasionally bounces/absorbs some shells. The hull defense of the three tanks is also even inferior, so it can be said that there is no defense at all. It's best to find cover in battle to avoid head-on confrontation with the enemy, and the Centurion AX has a bit of a defensive turret, but it's always okay to be careful.
Maneuver/Vision/Concealment are evenly matched
▲The No. 5 concept car has a higher top speed
For medium tanks, mobility, visibility/concealment are very important, and the three tanks also behave differently in this regard. In terms of mobility, the No. 5 concept car has a top speed of 65 km/h as a wheeled combat vehicle, and has a unit power of 25.22 hp/ton, but its travel resistance is not as good as that of the Vickers MK3 main battle tank and the Centurion AX, and the hull rotation speed is also relatively slow, which is more advantageous when transferring positions over long distances. The Vickers MK3 main battle tank and the Centurion AX are similar in mobility, but the Centurion AX is slightly inferior in terms of unit power and reverse speed.
▲Don't forget to fire behind the grass
All three medium tanks have a basic field of view of more than 400 meters, which really gives them an advantage in real combat. However, the concealment value of the No. 5 concept car is significantly low, and it needs to be compensated for with relevant accessories/skills. The Centurion AX also has a somewhat low concealment value, and it is large in size, making it easy to spot and hit. The Vickers MK3 main battle tank has a relatively high concealment value, but it is still low compared to other Tier X medium tanks. In actual combat, it is best for all three Y medium tanks to keep a certain distance from the enemy and cover their movements with the help of grass and terrain.
Strengths
▲Data comparison
In the game, the Centurion AX, Concept 5 and Vickers MK3 main battle tanks also have different combat role positioning, the Centurion AX is the "all-rounder", the No. 5 concept car and the Vickers MK3 main battle tank are "sniper type", and the division of roles also explains the different combat methods of the three tanks to a certain extent:
- The Centurion AX is considered a "jack-of-all-trades" tank that can handle almost all medium tank combat missions without any commander finding it difficult to navigate.
- Concept 5 is more suitable for keeping a distance from the enemy, sniping at the enemy at medium and long distances, and harassing the enemy with its high mobility and excellent gun control.
- The Vickers MK3 main battle tank has a lot of firepower, it can suppress the enemy at medium and long range, and if necessary, it can also exchange blood with the enemy in close combat to gain an advantage.
Each of the three Tier X medium tanks of the Y series has its own unique strengths and characteristics, and the design reflects the unique style of the Y series. Hopefully, this review will help players better understand these three classic Y-series tanks and make the most of them in the game to experience more fun battles.
