In order to standardize the issuance of electronic passports and facilitate the use of self-service border control channels for Chinese citizens returning to China, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia plans to fully resume fingerprint collection at the embassy from August 5, 2024.
1. Ordinary passport/travel document
Chinese citizens who apply for the issuance, renewal, reissuance, and apostille of ordinary passports/travel permits, as well as emergency travel permits, should submit their applications in advance on the "China Consul" APP, and make an appointment for the embassy or video interview according to the system prompts after passing the preliminary examination.
According to the relevant work requirements, applicants aged 16 or above (inclusive) in the consular district of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia should go to the embassy to collect fingerprints in principle. Those under the age of 16 who apply for passports and travel permits do not need to go to the museum to collect fingerprints, and it is recommended to choose the video interview method to avoid going back and forth.
If you are unable to go to the embassy to collect fingerprints, please explain the reasons for the inconvenience and provide relevant supporting materials in the "Fingerprint Collection Statement" of the "Chinese Consulate" APP, and whether you can handle it online will be subject to the review result.

2. Other entry and exit documents
To apply for official (ordinary) passports, travel permits for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan compatriots, and certificates of repatriation, please contact the embassy directly through the document consultation email or telephone, and submit the application materials to the embassy as required. Among them, official (ordinary) passports need to collect fingerprints, and they need to be handled by themselves at the designated link.
3. Precautions
For orders submitted before August 5, 2024, if they are still in the preliminary review stage, they need to make an appointment to visit the museum (for those who are over 16 years old for passport application) or video interview (for those who do not need to collect fingerprints) according to the system prompts; If the applicant has entered the stage of "pending certificate", the applicant can submit the materials in the previously selected method and does not require fingerprints to be collected at the museum.
Orders submitted on or after August 5 must be booked at the museum (for those who are over 16 years old and above applying for a passport) or video interview (for those who do not need to have fingerprints taken) according to the system prompts.
Fingerprints cannot be recorded separately for a new passport that has already been issued. Passports without fingerprint information can be used normally, but they cannot be self-cleared during China's border inspection, and they need to go through manual channels.
