Dating back to 1887, the National Museum of Singapore is Singapore's oldest museum and one of the city's architectural landmarks.

On the occasion of the 137th anniversary, the National Museum of Japan will hold a series of farewell commemorations from today (September 21).

The event featured "Tales of the Forest", a digital art exhibition jointly created by the National Museum of Singapore and Japan digital art collective teamLab, inspired by William · Farquhar's Nature Atlas in the museum's collection. Opened to the public in December 2016, the installation is currently part of the permanent exhibitions at the National Museum of Singapore and will conclude its eight-year run on display after 13 October.

"Tales of the Forest" fragrance experience

This aromatherapy class, in collaboration with perfume company Givaudan, takes visitors on a final journey through the colourful Tales of the Forest through the popular Sound Therapy, a full-body meditation experience.

The course begins with the "Path to Peace" meditation, from which you embark on a journey to inner harmony. Immersed in meditation instruction and sound healing, the soul will find solace in the gentle whispers of nature.

Under the guidance of 3 aromatherapists, you will experience the lasting harmony and peace of mind and body that meditation brings.

The perfume house Givaudan will share the inspiration behind the creations that complement the exhibition, with the goal of allowing you to take home your own 'Tales of the Forest' scent.

Recommended for ages 13 and above. Registration will open at 8:45 a.m. on the day of the event, tickets must be purchased in advance, and it is recommended to bring your own mat, mobile phone and headphones for aroma meditation. A maximum of 4 tickets can be purchased per person.

Custom William. Farquhar personality postcard

Visitors can take part in the "William. Farquhar's Personality Postcard Campaign" to experience more sensory experiences beyond the exhibition. Visitors can choose from 30 unique species of flora and fauna found in Tales of the Forest, including jasmine, smooth otters, and Malayan tapirs, and create unique collections by coloring, decorating, and more! In addition, visitors can learn more about each featured species through the instructions on the back of each card.

Visitors can customize up to 3 postcards from the William Farquhar Personality Collection, with decoration and coloring tools provided.

In addition, visitors can also feel the natural atmosphere at the forest leisure covered bridge, and enjoy the silhouettes of animals of the same size as life; Relax in a comfortable hammock and play jigsaw puzzles and limited-edition games.

Weekend craft workshops

During the museum's anniversary event on October 12-13, visitors can unlock hidden information with four special colored filters outside the glass rotunda.

Once the information is unlocked, visitors can take part in an animal-themed paper bag making workshop guided by a crafting expert.

Workshops will be held at 30-minute intervals with a maximum of 20 participants per session. Limited supply, while stocks last.
