From 26 September to 31 December 2024, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Tencent jointly launched a special marketing campaign entitled "Welcome to Macao", featuring three major items on the WeChat Pay platform, namely e-coupons, free dining and free Tesco, to encourage Mainland visitors to spend more. The event focused on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and community merchants in Macao, promoting the community economy, showcasing the promotional effectiveness of "tourism + e-commerce", enhancing Macao's image as a tourist city, driving the city's consumption atmosphere, and sharing the joy of "Double Celebration" with visitors.

The "Welcome to Macao" coupons and spending amounts, in RMB, are aimed at all WeChat Pay users in the Mainland who use their Mainland Resident Identity Cards for real-name authentication, excluding merchants operating in Macao's six major integrated resort and leisure enterprises, in order to encourage visitors to enter the Macao community for spending.

E-coupons encourage more spending

"RMB25 and RMB75 e-Coupons": Visitors who spend RMB200 or more at Macao community merchants that support WeChat Pay will have the opportunity to receive a RMB25 coupon, which can be used for their next spending of RMB100 or more. If you spend more than 500 yuan at a time at community merchants, you will have the opportunity to get a 75 yuan coupon, which can be used for the next purchase of 300 yuan.
