In order to deepen international students' understanding of Jingchu culture and promote cultural exchanges and mutual learning, on September 30, the School of International Education of Yangtze University held the "Perception of China - Jingchu Culture and National Conditions Study Camp", and nearly 20 international students from 11 countries participated in the activity.
At the Jingchu Intangible Cultural Heritage Skills Inheritance Institute, international students experienced intangible cultural heritage items such as Chu-style lacquerware decoration skills, Chu-style qin, eagle kite grinding, and Yingcheng clay pottery. These skills not only showcase the rich traditional handicrafts of the Jingchu region, but also vividly reflect the diversity and creativity of Chinese culture. Under the guidance of the inheritors, they also made lacquerware and clay pottery by hand, and felt the unique charm and ingenuity of traditional crafts.
The rich historical heritage of the ancient city of Jingzhou has left a deep impression on international students. The majestic ancient city walls, the clear and winding moat, and the cultural relics of the Three Kingdoms in the city make international students want to linger. Everyone experienced China's intangible cultural heritage, touched and felt the new charm of China's ancient city, and was attracted by the unique charm of Jingchu culture. Anaf, a student from Bangladesh, said: "China's intangible cultural heritage and skills are very great and magical, the lacquer is still gorgeous after thousands of years, the lacquer skills have also been passed down for thousands of years, the Chinese culture is amazing, and the Chinese people are amazing." ”
This event is part of the 2024 "Perception of China" social practice and cultural experience activity project of the National Committee for Studying in the Foundation hosted by the School of International Education. In the activity, international students have an in-depth understanding of the breadth and profundity of Jingchu culture, shape a new common historical memory, send the "Jingchu business card" to the world, and promote the innovation and development of Jingchu culture.
