Klosterenga Park in Oslo's Old Town is a new public sculpture park based on an idea initiated by the artist Bard Breivik in the 90s. The park is one of the most daring public art interventions in modern Norway's history. It has new walking trails, benches, lights and extensive vegetation, and the Hovinbekken creek, which was previously in a culvert, has been opened. The creek flows through the park in a series of channels, basins, and waterfalls, becoming a central element that interacts with the various sculptures to create a tranquil atmosphere.
Blending art, nature and urban life, the project has become a cultural landmark that enriches the cityscape.
For the Klosterenga Sculpture Park, zenity's lighting design combines functionality and artistry to enhance security and highlight the park's identity. The lighting scheme consists of two levels: one focuses on providing functional lighting for the roads and event areas, ensuring safe use at night; Another artistic lighting highlights the park's sculptures and water features in a subtle and intuitive way.
The two levels of lighting complement each other to create an inviting atmosphere that makes the park attractive to art lovers, locals, walkers and cyclists alike. In order not to interfere with the artistic experience, the lamps are placed precisely so as not to distract people from the art, ensuring a balance between light and darkness so that the park presents a harmonious and safe scene day and night.
