From "that snow in 2002" to "this fire in 2024"; From Guangzhou, the "thousand-year-old business capital", to Nanjing, the "ancient capital of the Six Dynasties", Daolang's 2024 concert tour has triggered a boom and detonated the Internet.
I'm not a "knife fan", but I like many of the songs that Daolang sings, and I'm also curious and interested in the "Daolang phenomenon". I watched some short videos of Daolang's concert and felt that the reason why it triggered "Daolang fever" was nothing more than the following reasons:
One is the original original song. Daolang is not an ordinary singer, but a singer, lyricist, composer and music producer, so most of the songs he sings are written and produced by himself. Singing your own songs, singing can more accurately grasp its connotation, rhythm and mood, and form your own unique taste and style, which is an advantage that others can't match. Just like calligraphy, writing your own poems and essays by yourself feels different, and you can play your own level more.
The second is to be attentive and affectionate. Many of Daolang's music works are created after in-depth collection, understanding life, and asking questions, such as "Love Song of the West Sea", "Impulsive Punishment", "Tenderness in the Palm of the Hand", etc., the lyrics and songs are full of affection, skillfully integrating a variety of musical elements, and there is a sense of picture and substitution, which makes people feel as if they are in the scene depicted in the song when listening. He truly achieved "creating with heart and emotion, singing with heart and emotion", and conquered the audience with a heart and a piece of love.
The third is empathy and resonance. What is especially worth affirming is that the emotions in Daolang's songs and singing are not personal "small emotions", but accurate people's emotional pulse in a period of time, and they are the common feelings and emotions of many people. Empathy resonates. Therefore, when he sings, it is easy to interact with each other, move people's hearts, and there is a scene of "I cry when you cry".
Fourth, it is simple and concise. Compared with those luxurious lineups, the lighting, stage and band of Daolang's concert are relatively simple, and his costumes are relatively simple, with black T-shirts and dark green pants, which are extremely ordinary. His singing style is also simple and unpretentious, not exaggerated or pretentious, and he has won applause and praise from the audience with his musical works and singing level.
Of course, Daolang's works and his singing, like other works and singers, cannot be perfect and flawless, we should appreciate and evaluate it more objectively, and look at "Daolang fever" calmly to prevent some bad biases.
First of all, don't make a simple analogy. Now some people on the Internet compare Daolang with other singers, which is not impossible, but be objective and fair, don't blindly elevate Daolang and suppress other singers in this way. If it has to be compared, it must be comparable. I have heard Liao Changyong and Daolang each sing "Remembering Comrades-in-Arms", the former is a bel canto baritone, his singing is both penetrating and tender, showing the emotional level in the song vividly, the melody seems to be able to travel through time and space, bringing the audience back to the years when comrades-in-arms fought side by side. And Daolang is a popular singing style, his singing voice is rough and delicate, popular and very infectious, as if it can touch the softest part of people's hearts, which makes people moved. Therefore, the singing of the two is indistinguishable, and I like both.
Second, don't pull it up arbitrarily. Undoubtedly, Daolang's creative level and singing level are worthy of recognition. There's always a reason for heat. However, Daolang also has weaknesses, many shortcomings, and there is still room for improvement and improvement. We must not exalt him arbitrarily, as if he is incomparable and supreme. I think Daolang himself should think so, right? Otherwise, how can he develop and rise again?
Again, don't overhype. Theatrical performances, it is necessary to do some publicity, but not excessive hype, the kind of overwhelming, bombing, crushing publicity, the audience's appetite is too high, too much sneak peek, often counterproductive, affecting people's expectations and mystery, reducing the objective effect and evaluation after the performance.
I haven't been to the scene to witness Daolang's performance with my own eyes, but I just expressed my personal opinion based on audio and video and media reports. Fortunately, the day after tomorrow (12th, 13th) Daolang will start singing in Nanjing, and the audience who goes to the scene to watch has more right to speak, and can better appreciate Daolang's real singing style and singing level.
