Chen Haosu, the eldest son of Chen Yi, served as secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, vice mayor of the Beijing Municipal People's Government, vice minister of the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, and president of the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

A pen and a piece of paper can write an enterprising poem. For Chen Haosu, the son of Chen Yi, who is in his eighties this year, writing poetry has long become a daily routine in his life.

"I like to write poetry, and the humanistic spirit embodied in the poems gives me the strength to inspire and move forward." Speaking of his complex of writing poems, Chen Haosu said that he was influenced by his father, and the poems have their own pursuit of life and their own views on life.

"To join the revolution is to be at home"

"To join the revolution is to be home, and there is an end to blood. Take righteousness and become benevolent today, and the world is full of free flowers. How many years have passed, no matter where he is, whenever Chen Haosu reads his father's poems, his heart will be surging, and he can feel his father's heroism and incomparably firm ideals and beliefs in dedicating everything to the revolution from the poems. Recalling his father's revolutionary career, Chen Haosu started from when his father wrote a popular poem "Three Chapters of Meiling". "In 1934, the Red Army had already marched north, because my father was seriously wounded, and was left in southern Jiangxi to contain the enemy's pursuit of the main Red Army. My father later mentioned that the three years of guerrilla warfare were the most arduous years of his revolutionary career, that he had to live and eat in the mountains, and that he was always ready to fight white bandits, traitors, and wild beasts. Chen Haosu said that his father and comrades-in-arms were not afraid of difficulties, always maintained loyalty to the revolutionary cause in their hearts, and persevered to the final victory with the support of the common people. On August 26, 1901, Chen Yi was born in Lezhi County, Sichuan, and was diligent and studious since he was a child, reading the "Four Books" at the age of 6 and a half, and familiarizing himself with a large number of Tang and Song poems at the age of 9. In 1919, he went to France for work-study and came into contact with the Communist Manifesto in France to study and have a preliminary understanding of Marxism. After returning to Japan in 1921, he participated in the revolution.

Marshal Chen Yi

In the impression of the young Chen Haosu, his father never allowed his children to show off his identity to the outside world, nor did he ever talk about his military exploits in front of his children. It was only later when he read some literature about his father that he learned about his father's revolutionary process, and it turned out that his father was a great figure.

My father's teachings were the source of my struggle

In 1957, Chen Haosu studied at Beijing No. 4 Middle School. In the second year, Chen Yi gave a report to the school as a parent of the student. "Everyone has to choose his own path in life, and if this choice is in line with the wishes of the people, that is, in accordance with the requirements of historical progress, it can decisively help this person to win success in life and career. Now that you are responding to Chairman Mao's call to take the revolutionary road of building socialism and serving the people, this is the correct choice you can make, and at the same time, you will be able to withstand the choice of history. Chen Haosu recalled that his father's report was very inspiring, and he understood that his destiny should be closely linked to the cause of national construction. In 1959, Chen Haosu was sent to the Preparatory Department of Beijing Institute of Foreign Chinese with excellent results, preparing to go to the Soviet Union for further study in an engineering university. Chen Haosu's choice of engineering is not only his ideal, but also in line with his father's expectations. "My father told me that 'the country needs engineering talents the most, and choosing to study engineering can make the greatest contribution to the country', his words deeply touched me, I applied for the engineering examination, and contributed to the development of science and technology in the motherland in the future." Chen Haosu said that due to Sino-Soviet relations, he did not go to the Soviet Union to study, but transferred to the Radio Department of the University of Science and Technology of China to study. During his college years, Chen Haosu joined the party. "My father was very happy to know that I had joined the party." For the first time, I talked to my son about his revolutionary experience, "Tell the story of how he was admitted to the Chengdu Provincial Class A Industrial School when he was young and later joined the party." He joined the party at the age of 22, and he also had a wandering at that time, he said, 'It doesn't matter if you are late in awakening, don't be afraid if you have repeatedly.' As long as you are truly enlightened, you are afraid that your enlightenment will not be true sooner or later, and sooner or later it will be shaken, and you should not be afraid of making mistakes, and you will not change your mistakes.'" His father's teaching accompanied Chen Haosu on a long road in life, and his later work was also deeply influenced by his father. In March 1990, Chen Haosu obeyed the organizational transfer and went from the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television to the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and since then, he has struggled on the non-governmental diplomatic front of the Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries for 20 years. "In recent years, our diplomatic undertaking has made great progress and our comprehensive national strength has become stronger and stronger. The ideas of my father's life for the development of the country were realized. Chen Haosu said proudly. Today, he has been in the party for nearly 60 years, "the road he has traveled is very long, he has never regretted it, and he is deeply gratified that what he has to do is wonderful." The descendants of the Iron Army only know how to serve the motherland, and the revolutionary family is worthy of the ancestors. Chen Haosu looked back on his mental journey, and for the rest of his life, he will continue to play a spare role for the development of the country, social progress, and the inheritance of red genes.

The father's posthumous manuscript carries the hope of the mother

"Life is a song of suffering, and sorrow is more adversity than good. Starting from the bottom of the society, only to resist oppression and drive out corrupt ......" In March 1990, Chen Haosu wrote a poem "A Portrait of Mother's Life" to commemorate his mother Zhang Qian. In Chen Haosu's heart, the love of his parents is unswerving, he is a comrade-in-arms side by side, a husband and wife who love each other, and a model in the hearts of his children. "Mother is the earliest female soldier in the New Fourth Army, she looks sweet, sincere, and her father met in southern Anhui, her mother was still a soldier who had just entered the revolutionary ranks, and her father was already a veteran soldier with more than 15 years of revolutionary experience, her mother knew that the gap was very large, she was diligent and studious all her life, diligent and thrifty. In the days of serious illness, she still insisted on sorting out her father's posthumous manuscripts. That love and scene still clearly remain in Chen Haosu's mind, and his thoughts returned to 1972.

Father Chen Yi and mother Zhang Qian "The death of my father is a heavy blow to our whole family. My father left us no material wealth, but a priceless spiritual legacy. At all times, we must be loyal to the party and the people and serve the people wholeheartedly. Chen Haosu recalled that at that time, his mother was already seriously ill and knew that his days were numbered, so his mother ignored her own body and seized the time to sort out her father's poems, and after many sleepless nights, she finally sorted out her father's poems. In the process of sorting out the poems, my mother told me that through these poems, she seemed to return to the years of blood and fire fighting, and felt the unforgettable deep love with her father, who lived again in her memory. Chen Haosu's eyes flashed with tears.

Chen Yi wrote more than 700 poems in his lifetime, each of which runs through the loyalty to the people and the difficulties of the revolutionary cause to victory. "When my mother was sorting out the poems, I did the copying work, and every time I copied a poem, it was a kind of spiritual baptism for me. My father's poems record the glory of the times and are the spiritual wealth left to the party and the people. My mother believes that my father's poems are all records of persistent fighting and hard work, and that my father's posthumous manuscripts carry my mother's hopes, and that my mother hopes that future generations will not forget the revolutionary victories ushered in by the older generation of revolutionaries through hardships, and learn to inherit their original aspirations of fighting for the party and the people. Chen Haosu said.

"Revolutionaries follow progress"

In the eyes of many people, Chen Haosu writes poems smoothly, the style of poetry is passionate and enterprising, poetry is like people, and people are like poetry. His poems not only reveal the feelings of loving the party and the country, but also have a sudden attitude towards the world. All this is inseparable from the environment in which he grew up and the influence of his parents. "In 1959, when I was 17 years old, my father was celebrating his birthday, and my mother suggested that the children each write a poem to congratulate him. At that time, we were in Beidaihe, and I wrote a long poem entitled "On the Edge of the Sea", and my father praised me after reading it. Recalling the past, Chen Haosu couldn't help but raise the corners of his mouth.

From not knowing how to write poetry to learning to write poetry, and then publishing many poems such as "Song of the Red Army", "Jizhi Collection", "Chen Haosu Poetry Collection" and other poems, Chen Haosu has become a "red poet" loved by people around him. But he said that writing poetry is just a feeling of his own. In July 1961, his younger brother Chen Danhuai traveled to study, and his father wrote a poem "Show Danhuai, and tell Haosu, Xiaolu, and Xiaoshan" to see him off, and he memorized the content of the poem by heart. "You are the son of the party, and revolution is my style. You are a revolutionary, and diligence and thrift are my sect. Work and study, start well and finish well. The people cultivate you, report and make meritorious deeds. The people nurture thee, and do all for the people. The revolution is resolute and will always be the motto. Chen Haosu and his younger siblings have long regarded every word in the poem as a motto to practice throughout their lives, which is the most important teaching left to them by their father. "I remember that on my 16th birthday, my father gave me a copy of "Selected Works of Mao Zedong" with an inscription: To read Chairman Mao's works, we should learn from his noble character, his keen thinking, his arduous style and his great spirit of serving the people all his life." Chen Haosu has always cherished this gift. Chen Haosu said that everyone has a family of their own, and everyone will encounter different adversities, but as long as there is faith in their hearts, the future must be bright, and his father is a bright light on the road of his life. Now, Chen Haosu, who is in his old age, reveals a charm similar to his father between his eyebrows. He used a poem to interpret the family style in his heart: "The revolutionary family style pursues progress, and the people's livelihood and national fortune are boundless." Glorious people, glorious party, the sun and the moon are prosperous, learn and follow the ideals, and practice the practical responsibility. Chengren takes righteousness and dedication to youth, and protects health in old age. ”
