Philip
(Serbia)
Ph.D. candidate in the Department of International Politics, Fudan University
......When Serbia handsome young man recited the "Two Chapters of Mencius" he had studied as a child, he remembered the time when his father took him to stroll on the lawn of the Fudan campus many years ago and explained traditional Chinese culture to him. Today, like international students from all over the world who come to China to study, Philip learns about traditional Chinese culture and gives them a different understanding of the stories that take place in this land.
Philip is a Ph.D. candidate at the School of International Relations and Public Affairs at Fudan University. When he was 8 years old, he followed his parents to Shanghai and became an international student in the second grade of primary school. In his words, he "learned the Chinese Chinese dialect, understood Chinese culture, witnessed the prosperity and development of Chinese cities, and received nine-year compulsory education." ”
As the "iron-clad friendship" between China and Cyprus has borne more fruits in recent years, as a student majoring in international politics, Philippo hopes to become a bridge between China and Cyprus in the field of academic and diplomatic affairs. In Philip's view, every country needs to learn from history and find answers to promote national development, and the inclusiveness of traditional Chinese culture makes it have commonalities with many countries in the Global South, including Serbia, and can become a new annotation in the traditional culture of various countries, promoting countries to truly practice the concept of "community with a shared future for mankind".
Cultural exchanges promote multilateral cooperation
Growing up in Shanghai, Philip speaks fluent Chinese. Coming to China to study and growing up in China allowed him to truly understand China in theory and practice, and to have a better understanding of Chinese culture. He has written many papers, reports, and translated many Chinese literature, and through these practices, he has worked hard to understand China. In Philip's view, China is an unprecedented country in the history of international relations, "China's worldview of a community with a shared future for mankind, as well as China's unique self-confidence, tolerance and wisdom, are unprecedented and extremely special." ”
Filippo said that in Serbia, there are now two types of institutions active in the front line of Sino-Serbian cultural exchanges, and the cultural experience center represented by the Confucius Institute provides a complete set of "immersive" courses to help ordinary people experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture with zero threshold; As a major manufacturing country, the emergence of Luban Workshop has given more young people who want to improve the country with their labor and hands and promote national development a practice platform.
While recently returning to his hometown to visit relatives, Philippe also experienced the high-speed rail project, which is a benchmark for "China-Cyprus" cooperation. "The other day, I took a train from Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, to Novi Sad, the second largest city, which was built by China. This ability and experience in building high-speed railways is the embodiment of the spirit of opening roads in the mountains and building bridges in the face of water in traditional Chinese culture. "Filip is particularly touched by the fact that the two countries have signed many important cooperation agreements at the bilateral level, including that China will support 50 young Serbian scientists to carry out scientific research exchanges in China in the next three years, and invite 300 Serbian young people to study in China." We will see students from all over the world coming to China to learn about China's development experience, and more Chinese students will go to the world to promote local development in the future. ”
In Philip's view, the most important thing between countries is to communicate and learn from each other. "This kind of exchange and communication will bring us closer together, both in developing and developed countries. I look forward to one day becoming a 'bridge' between Serbia and China, and I think all foreigners living in China may have similar ambitions." Philip believes that China's efforts to cultivate talents are also contributing to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, which is "a good thing and a good sign" for global development.
Witness development and tell the story of China
Philip no longer remembers who gave him the Chinese name. Sometimes he also wonders, "Other people's 'Philip' is Pu with three points of water, why am I a Pu with a cursive prefix?" Still, he embraced the more Chinese name. My name is Philip, Pu Songling's Pu. "When he meets new people, he always introduces himself like this.
Philip saw the Pentagon Twenty or Thirty Years Ago in old photographs, and it was a very ordinary place. But now, Wujiaochang has developed into a modern neighborhood, with a lot of traffic and lights at night. "Through the construction of Wujiaochang, we can actually see the development of large and small cities throughout China. In just a few decades, many cities in China have experienced this rapid development. As a foreigner, I have experienced first-hand the prosperity that comes with this rapid development, and once you witness it, you will inevitably be in awe of it and want to share this story and experience with countries facing the same problems. ”
He shared his understanding of traditional Chinese culture: "Whether in the past, present or future, 'harmony' has always been an important category of traditional Chinese cultural thought. Whether it is the harmony between people, the harmony in handling things, or the harmony between man and nature, the Chinese culture of valuing harmony has long penetrated into all aspects of the Chinese people's conduct of people, and represents the Chinese's yearning for a better life. Chinese modernization is the modernization that follows the path of peaceful development, and this is the inheritance and development of the idea of 'peace' in contemporary China. ”
"Today, global peace is particularly precious, and maintaining world peace and promoting the common development of the international community requires the joint efforts of our generation." Philip said.
Philip has always had a dream, and although he is still just an ordinary student, he tells us that young people are the next generation, the key bridge between the past, the present and the future. He hoped that, in addition to becoming a "bridge" for multilateral exchanges, he would also see more and more "bridges" and contribute to future international relations and multilateral exchanges.
