A few days ago, the barrier-free elevator of Beixinjing Subway Station of Metro Line 2 was completed and put into use, further improving the comfort and convenience of passengers, and at the same time opening up the "last mile" of barrier-free passage at the station.
Coming to the North Xinjing Station of Metro Line 2, the reporter saw the newly completed barrier-free elevator in the center of the station hall.
"Now there are elevators from the outside of the station to the station hall, and from the station hall to the platform." Passenger Wang Lao Bo told reporters that because he needed to contact the staff to use the barrier-free elevator in the past, he didn't want to spend time waiting, so he chose to take the escalator or take the stairs. Since the installation of barrier-free elevators in the platform hall of Beixinjing Station, he will choose to take the barrier-free elevator every time he takes the train, which is very convenient to use.
It is reported that limited by the historical conditions of the old line, most of the stations of Metro Line 2 originally had barrier-free elevators across the fare area, in order to improve this situation, Metro Line 2 has been installing or renovating barrier-free elevators at line stations since last year.
The area around Beixinjing Station is densely populated with old neighborhoods, so the number of elderly residents who take the subway is also relatively large. In order to allow the elderly, the disabled and passengers with large luggage to enjoy the convenient travel experience of "one-click direct" as soon as possible, at the beginning of this year, the installation of barrier-free elevators at Beixinjing Station was officially launched.
Considering the limited space on the station hall and platform floor, Beixinjing Station finally decided to install the elevator in the central area, which will not affect the space layout and normal passenger flow, and will be eye-catching enough to facilitate passengers getting on and off the train. The reporter learned that the construction of this barrier-free elevator is usually carried out after the end of operation to ensure that the normal passage of passengers is not affected.
With the completion and operation of the barrier-free elevator of Beixinjing Station, the "last kilometer" of the barrier-free passage of the station has been completely opened. In addition, passengers with wheelchairs and strollers can also contact the staff to use the "barrier-free ferry board" to further smooth the passage of getting on and off the bus.
At present, the barrier-free elevators connecting the platform and the station hall of Metro Line 2 at Songhong Road Station, Weining Road Station, Loushanguan Road Station and other stations within the scope of Changning District are still under intense construction, and are expected to be completed and put into use by the end of the year.
