A fantasy drift of teenagers and cats
"Young Pi" is positioned as a plot, fantasy and adventure. But in my opinion, it is a high-quality "suspense" masterpiece.
Director Ang Lee tells 3 different stories in a limited space (most people can only see 2), but does not tell us which one is the real story.
He only gave us one clue—it's a story that makes people believe in God.

Pai and his mother helped the cook to amputate the sailor's leg, hoping that the sailor would survive. But everyone can imagine that in the wandering sea, without any anesthesia measures, without any professional instruments, nor any anti-inflammatory and sterilizing drugs, it is impossible to complete a successful amputation. As a result, naturally, the sailors lost their lives in advance.
Subsequently, the cook is relieved to catch the fish, but Pai's mother is not happy about it, she knows that the cook is fishing with the meat of a dead sailor. The cook asked for the sailor's life under the pretext of amputation, so that he could use the sailor's corpse to hoard food. To this end, Pai's mother and the cook also had a fierce physical conflict.

One day, Pai was beaten by the cook for accidentally releasing a turtle. Pie's mother desperately protects her son and lets Pie escape to the raft, but she is unfortunately stabbed to death by the cook with a knife and thrown into the sea to become a shark delicacy.

Zebras and sailors both broke their legs, hounds killed zebras and orangutans, cooks killed sailors and Pai's mother, bengal tigers suddenly appeared and killed hounds when the mother was stabbed to death by the cook, and when the mother was stabbed to death by the cook, he sent a murderous heart to take the cook's life.
It is not difficult to find that the second story is what really happens in reality, and the first story is a fictional fantasy. Here, the zebra is the sailor, the hound is the cook, the female orangutan is his mother, and the Bengal tiger is the other side of the pie, the animalistic side.

In the second story, Pi's mother is thrown into the sea to feed the sharks. In addition, I don't believe that a story of revenge is the whole story, which simply can't set off such a big ripple in the heart of the aftermath.

The appearance of the woman on The Cannibal Island also hints at what he did to his mother. The outbreak of animality under the unforgiving nature of Pi was the only straw in his despair. It's just that the film uses exquisite pictures to put a fantasy coat on the core of the story, which reminds me of human history and civilization. Facts are always cruel, but people's praises and praises are always so beautiful.

Pie got on the boat with such an ignorant state, but this was normal, Pie was still very young, and his faith was still too young to touch the shape. In fact, there are many people who may not have the means to find their faith in their lifetime.

Later, the ship on which the family was riding encountered a storm, and the father and brother were killed first. They were two people who didn't believe in God.
Those who escaped to the lifeboat were Pai, Pai's mother, and sailors with Buddhist beliefs. Do you feel as if there is an invisible hand arranging people's lives and deaths? Do you think that the pie who escaped from the lifeboat with his mother would think who saved him?
But on the lifeboat, there was a fourth man, the cook, whose faith was unknown, but judging purely by his actions, he was more of a symbol that tested the willpower of the believers.

That night Pie also dreamed of his mother who was thinking about twilight.

I don't know exactly what it was for Teen Pi to get back to his way, but he seems to have found some kind of balance between humanity and bestiality in the drift that follows, and that balance continues until the moment he finally finds the other shore.
The most amazing thing is the scene where Richard Parker leaves, Pie said that he thought Richard Parker would have some nostalgia for himself, yes, releasing nature, releasing self is what everyone is willing to do, the least effort, the easiest thing. But the young pi actually maintained this restraint and adhered to the bottom line of human nature under the supervision of no one and driven by any external force.

The strength he acquires, I believe, is the power of true faith, but this faith is not drawn from the worship of God, but through inner perseverance.
Only such a belief can make people truly find inner peace, and only with this peace can adults accept and appreciate the beast that once existed in their hearts. Thanks to Richard Parker for testing himself and allowing himself to find true faith.
Years later, the adult faction can already laugh about the past, he is still involved in many religious fields, he is still a pantheist in people's eyes, but his inner direction is clear.

In fact, I don't have the answer to whether these three stories will make people believe in the existence of God, but if faith must have some kind of connection with God, I think it may be so.
