Zhang Jiasheng: Let "Long live the people" resound throughout Shenzhou

As the 60th anniversary of New China approaches, commemorative activities are being held all over the country to celebrate the National Day, and the 74-year-old Zhang Jiasheng and the well-known "Long Live the People" he recited have become indispensable chapters in many performances.

"Whatever the teacher asks you to do, you do seriously"

On October 1, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong shouted long live the people from the tower of Tiananmen Square. The happiness brought to Zhang Jiasheng by the founding of the People's Republic is strong and profound. Before this, Zhang Jiasheng was still living a wandering life, and it was difficult to solve the problem of food and clothing every day, but after the founding of New China, he actually had the opportunity to go to school. After graduating from the class of junior high school in 1950, Zhang Jiasheng was admitted to the National Muslim College in Beijing in August 1950. This is a school specially opened by the central government in order to implement the policy of ethnic minorities. The school not only guarantees the daily life of ethnic minority students, but also gives them appropriate pocket money. What Zhang Jiasheng still remembers is that the school gives them special potato and beef balls every week to improve their diet. It couldn't be better for a kid who was only fourteen or fifteen years old.

When Zhang Jiasheng was studying at the National Muslim College, sports were his strong points, and the long jump was once a middle school record in Beijing. In addition, he was also very fond of music, and at school, the teacher even used his compositions as teaching materials. After graduation, Zhang Jiasheng was assigned to teach physical education at Dachang Hui Autonomous County Middle School in Hebei Province. Because the school was just founded, at the age of 17, he not only had to work as a physical education teacher, but also taught music and art, but this was not difficult for him to have a wide range of hobbies.

In 1956, the State Council called on serving cadres to enter universities. At that time, the situation was somewhat special, many new universities needed a large number of students, and even junior high school students could enter the university. The organization took into account that Zhang Jiasheng was a Huimin and a high Chinese, so it also came to mobilize him to take the exam. Zhang Jiasheng, who has been teaching in middle school for 3 years, has a very deep relationship with the teachers and students in the school, and he is not willing to leave, and he has not reviewed his homework for 3 years, what capital to take to the exam? Later, a teacher gave him an idea and said: "Zhang Jiasheng, you have a good voice and good health, just go to the Central Academy of Drama, you are allowed to do it!" Zhang Jiasheng thought to himself, although he could not pass the exam, this is also a life experience.

Before the exam, he wanted a classmate who was going to college to tutor him, but the classmate looked down on him and squeezed him: "Stanislavsky is too complicated, I can't tell you, so if you do, the teacher will let you do what you do." Zhang Jiasheng has always been very serious about doing things, and he did not care about the contempt of his classmates. With such a mentality, he went to take the college entrance examination, not thinking that this exam would become the beginning of his artistic career.

At that time, the first question given to Zhang Jiasheng by the chief examiner was to ask him to find a needle on the ground. It was decades old, it was so dry that even the immortals couldn't find it, and Zhang Jiasheng knew that the teacher hadn't thrown it. However, his mind resounded with the words of his classmates who squeezed him: "Whatever the teacher asks you to do, you do seriously." Therefore, Zhang Jiasheng began to seriously look for it. Standing and not seeing, he crouched down to find, crouched down to find, crouched down to find. The teachers watched the Zhang family's voice full of sweat and dirt. Later, Zhang Jiasheng told the teacher with some frustration that he was not looking for it. The teacher immediately told him very seriously: "You must find it, I just threw it." He had to continue looking, and the teachers continued to have fun, and finally the teacher said to stop and this was the end. In fact, at that time, Zhang Jiasheng knew that the teacher did not lose the needle, but it was because the classmates squeezed his words that played a role, he would be so serious about finding this needle that did not exist.

The second topic is the test vocal music, the teacher asked to sing a song, Zhang Jiasheng said to the teacher who played the piano that he wanted to play himself and sing, and the teacher immediately agreed. At the end of the song, the examiners were shocked, most of the candidates could not play the piano, and the Zhang family would naturally pass the pass smoothly. Next, when the physical movements were examined, the teacher said to play a piano, and everyone improvised a dance to assess everyone's sense of rhythm. But Zhang Jiasheng can't dance. And he didn't want to be admitted from the bottom of his heart. Because he liked the middle school where he taught, he had a very good relationship with the teachers and students in the school, and he did not want to leave them. So Zhang Jiasheng told the teacher that he would not dance, the teacher said that he could not dance, you twisted and twisted the song, and Zhang Jiasheng also said no. In fact, how can the Yangge Zhangjiasheng not twist? Zhang Jiasheng's hometown is Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, and when he was liberated in 1947, the old and the young were twisting songs every day. The teacher was a little anxious, Zhang Jiasheng had to say that he would fold his head, and then Ding Zero folded open, and the folded teacher directly applauded him, and finally got the highest score in the whole field.

That exam Zhang Jiasheng was originally intended to be an experience of life, so others were nervous and afraid that they would not be able to pass the exam, but he showed his talent in relaxation and was successfully admitted in the initial exam. In 1956 he began university life in the Acting Department of the Central Academy of Drama.

"My art started with failure"

Zhang Jiasheng and the author talked about the situation when they first recorded, and they were still full of interest: "The first broadcast was my first week of school, and my classmates asked me to record a radio drama called "Elephant, Lion and Little White Rabbit". Because of my good voice and wide range, I was asked to record lions. In the first paragraph of the play commentary, it is said that this lion walked on the grassland and saw the little white rabbit, it was ecstatic, and then it laughed loudly, and then ate the little white rabbit. It was the first time I went into the studio and saw the microphone for the first time. I feel like the whole world is listening to me. I haven't seen it, my heart is pounding, I can't laugh. Half a day later, I finally laughed out louder, and the more I laughed, the more crazy I became. As a result, I laughed at the person next to me. I thought to myself, you are not a lion, what are you laughing at. As a result, the director on the other side also laughed, and the recording engineer also laughed. After a while, the director came in and said to me, "Classmate, okay, let's go here, let's change roles." I said I laughed out, what did you laugh out of? You laughed out loud, you held the microphone, and the microphone rattled and made us all laugh. You still play the elephant, the elephant has few words. This is my first time recording in the studio, and it should be said that my artistic creation started from failure. ”

From this failure, Zhang Jiasheng found a lesson and found experience. He thought to himself, isn't it just relaxation? Isn't that bold? Isn't it serious? Zhang Jiasheng began to realize that he had to put in more effort than others to be rewarded. So when he was in theater school, what belonged to everyone was 24 hours a day, but it was 32 hours that belonged to him. Why? 8 hours of study, 8 hours of discretion, 8 hours of sleep, this is the university's regulations. During the 8 hours of free activity time, the students went to fall in love, went to Beihai to drink beer, and went to the movies, while Zhang Jiasheng worked hard in the piano room, in the practice room, in the library, and in the rehearsal field. In this way, the radio station began to ask him to record short stories in the second half of the first semester, and by the third and fourth grades, he had recorded a lot, and he also completed his college studies with four years of amazing results.

Zhang Jiasheng knows that he is not a smart person, but he is a hard-working person, a strong person, and a person who does not accept defeat. It was this spirit of not accepting defeat that laid a good foundation for his future artistic career.

During the "Cultural Revolution" period, performances could only sing eight model plays, and long and short stories did not exist, and foreign novels did not exist. When the "Gang of Four" was smashed, the people of the whole country seemed to have achieved a second liberation, the masses twisted the song in front of Tiananmen Square for three days, and Zhang Jiasheng also excitedly wrote an article called "Twisting the Song in Front of Tiananmen." It just so happened that this article was discovered by the leaders of the Haizheng Opera Troupe, and Zhang Jiasheng was invited to be the executive director of the opera "Liu Hulan". In the eyes of ordinary people, this seems to be quite difficult for Zhang Jiasheng, who has never been a director. But the results of the performance did not disappoint the leaders of the opera troupe. "Liu Hulan", directed by Zhang Jiasheng, has won many awards for performance and directing.

It turned out that during his time in school, Zhang Jiasheng developed a good learning method - good at observing life. During the class, in addition to completing the teaching tasks given by the teacher, Zhang Jiasheng also noticed the whole series of processes of the teacher from entering the classroom to leaving the classroom, how to give lectures to the students, what examples were given, and how to let the students go from ignorance to knowledge. Therefore, in the study of a course, he not only learned the teaching content of the teacher, but also learned the teaching method of the teacher. After engaging in work, Zhang Jiasheng not only seriously completed the stage performance, but also paid attention to observing how the director inspired the actors, how to inspire the lighting, and how to inspire the art. It is in this way that he continues to learn, so that Zhang Jiasheng gradually mastered the tricks of directing.

Zhang Jiasheng believes that the performing arts cannot be separated from life, and should be good at observing the details of life. He is very fond of "Whispers", a radio talk show, and every night he will stand by the radio and listen to people from all walks of life telling about their lives. In Zhang Jiasheng's view, this is also a way to observe life. He feels that the reason why he has been able to successfully and vividly play a variety of roles in these decades is that the most fundamental thing is to observe life and experience life. It can be said that the bits and pieces learned in life have a huge impact on his artistic life.

"'Long Live the People' is to serve the people"

In 1993, the 100th anniversary of Chairman Mao's birth, Zhang Jiasheng recited the well-known poem "Long Live the People" again in Chongqing. After reading a few words, the audience was almost a sentence of applause, and the soundtrack of the scene was drowned in applause.

At dinner end of the performance, Zhang Jiasheng sat across from a policeman surnamed Man. Everyone was preparing to eat, but the policeman with the surname Man kept wiping away tears. Zhang Jiasheng was a little curious, so he asked him why he was crying, and he choked up and said to Zhang Jiasheng, "Your recitation is so good!" Teacher Zhang, there are not many people who are calling for the people's long live now, they are all calling for long live the renminbi, long live the others. Speaking of this, Zhang Jiasheng seemed a little excited. In his opinion, the nearly 50-year-old policeman broke the essence of the poem with one word. Actually the whole song

"The blind man said that I gave them eyes, which is the highest evaluation" Referring to serving the people, Zhang Jiasheng told this writer that he has always moved forward in the encouragement and encouragement of the people, and he has never forgotten that he is serving the people.

The essence of the poem is clearly described in the words: "You walked up to the Tiananmen Tower to shout long live the people, and the people used their own bodies to hold Tiananmen so majestic." You walked up to the Tiananmen Tower to shout long live the people, and the people used their own blood and sweat to dye Tiananmen square like this..." In Zhang Jiasheng's view, this poem actually expresses the purpose of the Communist Party of China - to serve the people wholeheartedly. Translated in the language of art, it is long live the people. Therefore, Chairman Mao in the poem should represent the Chinese Communist Party and not the voice of an individual. The words "long live the people" are used to exhale the purpose of the Communist Party of China. This is no longer a simple work of remembering a certain person, but a tribute to the spirit of our party to serve the people wholeheartedly, and at the same time to warn some people not to forget the purpose of the party. Zhang Jiasheng feels that the language of depth pays attention to subtext and connotation, and the connotation of "Long Live the People": it is the importance of serving the people.

Zhang Jiasheng said: "The 60th anniversary of the National Day is approaching, and many places have invited me to read this poem. What does that actually mean? All the organs understand that we serve the people and should call on the people to live long and do nothing else. Therefore, this poem is also quite popular with the broad masses of the people, because it conveys the party's purpose and the party's core ideas. What the people need most now is to care for them, to love them and to help them. Therefore, in recent years, the state has stepped up its efforts to fight corruption. Now such poems are even more needed to express that the Chinese Communist Party serves the people wholeheartedly. ”

After the "Gang of Four" was crushed, Zhang Jiasheng was invited by the Central People's Radio to broadcast "How Steel is Made." It was also the first novel he played. Before the broadcast, the leader told him that this novel has educated generations of people, and I hope you can broadcast it well. Zhang Jiasheng made preparations very seriously. At that time, television was not widespread, and radio dominated people's cultural life. This "How Steel is Made" is a household name. Zhang Jiasheng received more than 1,000 letters. Of the 23 letters, Zhang Jiasheng said was the deepest education for him. The 23 letters were sent by people from all over the country who wanted to commit suicide, saying that they felt ashamed to listen to his performances, that they should learn from Paul, that they should be hopeful about life, and that they were very grateful to him. Zhang Jiasheng burst into tears after reading these letters. He felt that he had only fully shaped his image with a serious responsibility, and he did not think that the novels he broadcast could prevent others from committing suicide. At that time, Zhang Jiasheng's mood was very complicated, he was happy, and he had a deep sense of responsibility. Oh, the original self

Broadcasting books can also have such a great power.

The second novel of ZhangJiaShenglu is Su Shuyang's "Homeland". After the broadcast, I also received many letters, one of which was written in Braille. The letter said: "Teacher Zhang, we are a group of blind people in the blind factory, originally we could not see anything, listening to your performance of "Homeland", we seem to see a colorful world. The last sentence was: "Thank you, Teacher Zhang, for giving us eyes." ”

Zhang Jiasheng was very emotional: "My creative inspiration comes from the vast number of people and from life, and I have never forgotten that I should refine my feelings from life." It was they who deeply educated me. I am serving the people. Those blind people said I gave them eyes, which was the highest rating. I've won a lot of awards, and it's never as high as this one! ”

Zhang Jiasheng believes that no announcer should forget the audience, and don't forget that there are many people in the audience who are better than you. When he gave classes to the Communication University, he often taught his students: "Don't think that you are very bullish on radio and television, the whole country is listening to my voice." There are too many people who are greater than you, even if you don't know a word, you should look up the dictionary, the people can't be intimidated. This is exactly what Zhang Jiasheng has gained and experienced in the process of creation and practice for decades.

May 12, 2008 is a day that Chinese remembers fondly. The Wenchuan earthquake touched the hearts of everyone in the country. On May 12, Zhang Jiasheng was lecturing to a travel company in Sanya when the phone rang. After the course, he learned about the Wenchuan earthquake from his son's phone. After returning to Beijing, because the traffic to Wenchuan was completely blocked at that time, he could only go everywhere to donate money and materials.

Just when Zhang Jiasheng felt powerless about the earthquake, he received an invitation from the Beijing Daily newspaper to "Lofty Tribute - Recitation of Excellent Works of Earthquake Relief and Disaster Relief" and accepted the performance without hesitation. After Zhang Jiasheng got the poet Li Li's "Ode to Life", he couldn't help but burst into tears during his reading. He said: "This poem is so touching! I will recite this poem with my heart and my life. Zhang Jiasheng's recitation at the concert was interrupted from time to time by the excited applause of the audience, and he could not help but cry when the recitation was excited. The Beijing Daily Choir and stage staff who sang along were infected by Zhang Jiasheng's recitation art, and many people were full of tears.

The earthquake gave Zhang Jiasheng's education profound. When the deceased died, the firefighters and the soldiers of the public security armed police sacrificed their lives to save the disaster-stricken people, so that he deeply felt that the love of the people was not something that could be expressed in just a few words. Therefore, when reciting "Ode to Life", Zhang Jiasheng condensed his love for the people, his love for soldiers, and his love for the motherland, and injected them into the words and lines of the poem. This is no longer simply reading poetry, but a kind of remembrance, a kind of sustenance.

"Crying is not the end. It is to induce and resonate people's love for their compatriots, their love for the motherland, and their sympathy for disasters. Tears, let us learn to be strong in the midst of disaster. ”

"Art needs humor not sensationalism"

Zhang Jiasheng likes comedy and has played many comedy roles, the most successful of which is the fat jazz in "Windsor's Merry Wives". Fat Sir Falstaff is a fat character who is chased all day. In order to vividly reproduce the image of Falstaff, When making up, Zhang Jiasheng had to wear a quilt-like "fat jacket", with a waist circumference of two meters, not only that, but also wearing a hood, running back and forth on the stage, and running very neatly. Under such strict conditions, Zhang Jiasheng still completed this role well, and the humor component of the character itself was vividly expressed. At that time, this drama was the first performance in China, and even the United Kingdom gave it a report, and the domestic newspaper gave Zhang Jiasheng's performance "superior humor", which was highly praised.

Zhang Jiasheng feels that what is most lacking in stage art and film and television art now is humor. Nowadays, many cross-talk actors and sketch actors do not bring humor to the audience, but at best they are only funny and sensational. This kind of humor is very cheap and has no cultural connotation at all. Some TV stations are desperately touting this kind of humor, and some people even openly claim to change their face shape to a certain comedy star, which is actually the biggest tragedy. Mr. Mei Lanfang once warned those children who had just stepped onto the stage: "Don't imitate me, no matter how good the imitation is, it is only Mei Lanfang's second, you might as well create a you, surpass Mei Lanfang." In Zhang Jiasheng's eyes, such a talent can truly be called a great artist.

Of course, that's not to say that all stage shows have to be serious. He is not against gags, but as a good actor, he should rely on his own humor to infect the audience. Teacher Zhang Jiasheng and Teacher Ma Sanli are friends for many years, teacher Ma Sanli said that crosstalk is very serious, but humor is everywhere, and even in retrospect will laugh, this is the real humor. In Zhang Jiasheng's view, humor should be the crystallization of a person's life, culture and ability, and more accurately, it should be a quality of people.

Zhang Jiasheng, who is now 74 years old, is often invited to give lectures or performs across the country. In his daily life, he does not have any shelves, and in addition to the rehearsal of the performance, he is also enthusiastic to teach the experience to those young actors to help them establish a correct outlook on life and values. Talking about his current life, Zhang Jiasheng said with a smile that although the tense performance made him a little tired, he could continue to shine for the motherland and the people, and it was nothing to be tired.
