In 2019, with the official opening of Beijing Daxing International Airport, Beijing officially opened the era of dual hub of civil aviation. The location of Beijing Daxing International Airport dates back to around 2002, and in a few years, Langfang in Hebei Province, Wuqing in Tianjin, Daxing in Beijing and Tongzhou in Beijing have all become popular discussion sites. In April 2008, this process was accelerated with the establishment of the Beijing New Airport Site Selection Coordination Group.
In 2011, the news of the new Beijing airport settling in Daxing was announced. In 2014, the construction of the new Beijing airport was officially started.
In September 2016, the main terminal of the new airport in Beijing was capped by the underground structure;

In September 2018, the new airport in Beijing had an official name, named "Beijing Daxing International Airport";
On September 25, 2019, Beijing Daxing International Airport was officially opened to traffic, and the "phoenix spread its wings" in Nancheng. The new airport and the new national gate have opened a new chapter for Beijing's high-quality development and injected new momentum into the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.
