In the first month of the 60th year of the Kangxi Dynasty, two more days, is the 60th anniversary of Kangxi's ascension to the throne, because there are very few emperors who have reigned for 60 years in history, so in the early dynasty, the courtiers have suggested that a celebration ceremony be held for Kangxi in May of that year. After Kangxi descended the dynasty, the mood was very happy. I didn't think about it, just sat down, saw the first recital, and the good mood suddenly stopped. The recital was jointly performed by 12 ministers, including Yushi Taoyi, Ren Ping, Fan Changfa, Zou Tuyun, and Chen Jiayou, and the content of the recital was: Request Kangxi to release the deposed prince Yinrong. In a fit of rage, Kangxi threw the fold on the ground and instructed the eunuch, "Summon the king!" ”
It should be noted that at that time, Wang Tuan was already 76 years old and dying of old age. Among the 12 ministers who joined the song, there was no Wang Tuan, so why did Kangxi want to anger Wang Tuan? Because Kangxi believed that Wang Tuan was the initiator of this matter.
Wang Tuan,Zi Zaoru,a native of Taicang, Jiangsu Province. He was from the Mingmen (Taiyuan Wang clan), and Wang's great-grandfather was Wang Xijue, the first assistant to the cabinet during the Ming Dynasty. From Wang Xijue to Wang Huan, the Four Generations of the Wang Family produced 5 Jinshi, although spanning the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the family prospered. Especially in Wang Tuan's generation, Wang Tuan and his second cousin Wang Tuan were in the court together, both of whom were known for their profound knowledge. Wang Tuan's last official post was Shangshu of the Punishment Department and a scholar of Wenyuange University.
After Wang Tuan entered the army in the ninth year of the Kangxi Dynasty, his official fortunes were still prosperous, and in the thirty years of Kangxi, Wang Tuan served as an attendant of the Hanlin Academy, responsible for teaching Confucian classics to Kangxi and the princes, during which time Wang Tuan also briefly taught the crown prince Yinrong. Therefore, some people say that Wang Tuan is the teacher of Prince Yinrong, although this statement is far-fetched, it is not out of thin air.
Crown Prince Yinrong was Kangxi's concubine, who lost his mother at a young age and was made crown prince before he was two years old. In Kangxi's eyes, Yin Rong was a relatively good prince, he was a gentleman and martial, and he was also very sincere and filial to his father. However, in the middle and late Kangxi period, the princes gradually became full of wings, and during the period of the Ninth Son's conquest, Yin Rong gradually disappointed Kangxi's death, and was finally deposed twice by Kangxi, and even imprisoned in Xian'an Palace.
During the prince's confinement, Wang Tuan played several times, hoping that Kangxi would release Yin. For example, in the fifty-sixth year of the Kangxi Dynasty, Wang Tuan once expressed his views on the matter of Li Chu to Kangxi. Later, Kangxi summoned Wang Tuan to the bedside and appeased him for a long time. But what Kangxi said specifically, outsiders do not know. Draft History of the Qing Dynasty:
Smell the fate of the trend, free of crown thanks. On the knees in front of the imperial bed, the words are long, secret, and people cannot know.
No matter what Kangxi talked about to Wang Tuan this time, it can be known that Wang Tuan was not dead hearted, because four years later, that is, in the spring of the sixtieth year of Kangxi, Wang Tuan mentioned this matter again.
Just when Qunchen suggested that Kangxi hold a celebration of the 60th anniversary of his accession to the throne, Wang Tuan took the lead in suggesting that Kangxi release the second brother Yinrong. Wang Tuan "Please release the second brother, and the language is more intense." Because wang Tuan's language was agitated, it had already caused Kangxi's dissatisfaction in the court. Unexpectedly, after Kangxi went down to the dynasty, he received a joint performance from 12 ministers, also demanding the release of the deposed prince Yin Rong, kangxi felt that this matter was not so simple, and it must be Wang Tuan who was behind it. Therefore, he asked someone to summon Wang Tuan, and Kangxi personally rebuked Wang Tuan.
After Wang Tuan entered the palace, Kangxi said to Wang Tuan: "During the Ming Dynasty, your great-grandfather Wang Xijue recommended Zhu Changluo, the eldest son of Emperor Ming shenzong, as crown prince, and eventually Zhu Changluo died shortly after he ascended the throne, and then the Ming Dynasty was in chaos and eventually perished. It can be said that the demise of the Ming Dynasty has a lot to do with your family, and your great-grandfather Wang Xijue can hardly blame it, right? ”
Why did Kangxi introduce this history? During the Ming Dynasty's Wanli Dynasty, the Emperor's eldest son Zhu Changluo (Ming Guangzong) was born in a lowly background, and the Wanli Emperor was reluctant to make a prince, and later the wenchen led by the first assistant of the cabinet, Wang Xijue (pictured below), repeatedly advised, and eventually Zhu Changluo became the crown prince, but after Zhu Changluo, the Ming Dynasty began to decline until its demise. Therefore, Kangxi believes that the demise of the Ming Dynasty has a lot to do with Wang Xijue. In fact, Wang Xijue only carried a pot, even if the Wanli Emperor did not appoint the eldest son as the crown prince, the decline of the Ming Dynasty was inevitable.
Draft History of the Qing Dynasty:
The edict rebuked Zhi Dang XiRong, and said: "When The Xi Emperor was in the Ming Dynasty, he tried to play Jianchu, Taichang reigned, and within a few months, the Apocalypse was cowardly, the world was in chaos, and the Emperor huan could not keep it." After the death of Ming, Xi Jue could not absolve himself of his crime.
Kangxi means: Wang Xijue is your great-grandfather, you want to be Wang Xijue, but you don't want to be the Wanli Emperor. Therefore, you should not force the prince to be established many times, and you should have your own plans!
For this statement, Wang Tuan of course did not agree, and Kangxi coup d'état, Kangxi was furious, planning to severely punish Wang Tuan. Because the fourteenth Brother Yinyu was using troops in the northwest, Kangxi sent the 76-year-old Wang Tuan to serve in the Northwest Army. Wang Tuan has an old bone, if he really goes to the northwest, there will be no return. In the end, Wang Yiqing, the son of Wang Tuan, wrote to intercede and filled the army on behalf of his father, so that Wang Tuan was able to stay in the capital. After this lesson, Wang Tuan never spoke again about the establishment of the crown. After Yongzheng ascended the throne, Wang Tuan told his old man to return to his hometown, and in the sixth year of Yongzheng, Wang Tuan died of illness at the age of 84.
The author believes that the most fundamental reason why Wang Tuan repeatedly tried to protect Yin Rong and asked Kangxi to release Yin Rong was not how good Yin Rong was, but that after Yin Rong was deposed, the sons seized concubines and there was constant strife in the court. Wang Tuan believed that if Yin Rong was released, he might be able to end this situation. Unfortunately, Kangxi had already lost confidence in Yin Rong, and kangxi had already had his own plans for the selection of the new crown prince, but he was unwilling to announce it prematurely.
