In this play, Wang Tuan plays the teacher of Prince Yinrong, who is deeply respected by Kangxi, and has a lifelong love for his unskilled student, and after the prince was deposed again, he resolutely supported Yinchen, and finally drank poisoned wine and died.
In fact, there is indeed a Wang Tuanqi person in the real history, but before opening the article, we must first point out three misunderstandings about Wang Tuan. First, Wang Tuan was not the prince's teacher; second, he never supported Yin Chan's struggle for the throne; third, he was very miserable in the Yongzheng Dynasty.
Wang Tuanqi still has a great history, and his great-grandfather Wang Xijue was the first assistant of the cabinet during the Ming Dynasty, a scholar of Wenyuange University and a shangshu of the Ministry of Rites. The astonishing coincidence of history once again fell on Wang Tuan, who during the Kangxi Dynasty held the same official position as his great-grandfather Wang Xijue, a scholar of Wenyuange University and a rebbe Shangshu.
Wang Tuan (1644-1728), a native of Taicang, Jiangnan (present-day Taicang, Jiangsu), was a scholar in the ninth year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1670), who was elected to the Jishi of Shu and was appointed as an editor of the Hanlin Academy, and from then on he became an official in the dynasty, an official to a university scholar, a position and a subject.
In the fifty-sixth year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1717), Wang Tuan, because of his loyalty, received two imperial plaques from the Kangxi Emperor, one in recognition of his great-grandfather Wang Xijue and the other in praise of his father Wang Shimin. For a Han courtier, it was a great honor for both his great-grandfather and father to be praised by the supreme ruler of Manchuria at the same time.
In May of the same year, in order to repay the favor of the Emperor Haodang, Wang Tuanshang played the Role of Qing Fu and established Yin Rong as crown prince. Kangxi had previously intended to depose the crown prince for the second time, and whoever asked for a crown prince would be beheaded. However, Wang Tuan risked killing his head, and for the sake of the Great Qing Dynasty, he went out and decided to advise the emperor.
Kangxi did not say anything about this recital. Unfortunately, at this time, eight officials, including the Imperial History of the Imperial Household Bureau, jointly played the song and played the title of Crown Prince from the Speed Book. In this way, Kangxi associated these eight people with Wang Tuan, believing that he was behind the ghost, and suddenly jumped like a thunderbolt, wanting to put the university scholar Wang Tuan to death.
However, afterwards, Kangxi Nian Wang Tuan was meritorious and did not pursue it. After that, although Wang Tuan nominally remained in the cabinet to serve, he had self-knowledge, and he did not dare to enter the cabinet as a sinner.
After the death of the Kangxi Emperor, Yin Chan ascended the throne as emperor, which was a big surprise to Wang. He believed that he had always been inclined to restore Yin Rong on the issue of the heir to the throne, and now that the yin and yang were wrong, it was very inappropriate to continue to serve as an official in the dynasty.
In the first month of the first year of Yongzheng (1723), Wang Tuan begged for retirement on the grounds of old age. The Yongzheng Emperor decreed: "Qing cai is of good character, Xuanli is old, diligent and conscientious, and relies on Bi Zhengyin." Let the beggar rest, the affection is earnest, and the original is given to the shi. ”
The Yongzheng Emperor said these words in a veiled manner, in fact agreeing to the withdrawal of the university scholar, who had been supporting his political enemies, from the cabinet. In February of the same year, Wang Tuan again asked to leave the Beijing Division and return to his hometown. The Yongzheng Emperor was afraid of the notoriety of expelling the old ministers from the beginning of his reign, and said with a humble head: "I can't bear the departure of such old ministers, so I still stay in the capital division and prepare for the advisers." ”
In March, when the Yongzheng Emperor was congratulating himself on the throne and was gracious to the sons of the ministers, the ministers obeyed the order to make a list of all the people who deserved Yin Sheng (Yin Sheng refers to the ministers' sons who became officials by virtue of their father's merits), and Wang Tuan met the conditions and should also be listed, but the Yongzheng Emperor excluded him, saying: "When he is on the throne, Wang Tuan will have to retreat and do not need to be rewarded." ”
The Yongzheng Emperor's persecution of the old minister Wang Tuan did not end here, and he put an even more powerful soft knife on Wang Tuan's neck.
In the third year of Yongzheng (1725), Yongzheng looked for an excuse and accused Wang of selling fame and reputation. He told the cabinet minister: "The former university scholar Wang Tuanxian spoke to everyone, and he had spared Su and Loose Floating Grain in the prelude to the Holy Ancestor, but he was not allowed to do it. The palace inquired one by one, and there was no such thing. Wang Tuan had been favored for decades, and the official had gone to Taifu, and in this matter he wanted to sell his own reputation and betray his favor. ”
Yongzheng also severely reprimanded Wang Tuan for having slandered him by creating rumors: "Wang Tuanhe saw and heard that Nian Qianyao only listened to his words, and for this treacherous act was very hateful. He also charged Wang Tuan's sons Yiqing and Yihong with bribing Nian Qianyao and ordered them to remain serving in front of the border army and not to return to the interior.
The elderly Wang Tuan could not withstand such a severe blow and died unjustly in the sixth year of Yongzheng (1728). When this old minister who had served the imperial court for nearly sixty years died, the Yongzheng Emperor actually did not give him a sympathy, which was not a great shame. For this reason, after Wang Tuan's death, his grandson never dared to hold a funeral for him, and it took a full decade before the funeral ceremony was held for him.
After Yongzheng's death, Qianlong came to power, which summoned Wang Tuan's sons Yiqing and Yihong back to the interior. The following year Yi Qing gave his father a qing gift, and Qianlong approved his request and issued an edict saying: "Wang Tuan, the former scholar of the university, could not deeply understand the heart of Saint Zu's silent reservation of the throne that day. However, Yi is in the government, and for the sake of the country, it is still the responsibility of the branch. Now that I am remembering the old courtiers, I have been blessed with grace, and I can replenish the pensions that I deserve. ”
At this point, the Qianlong Emperor finally rehabilitated this old minister who was loyal to the imperial court. Wang Tuan finally got the share of posthumous mourning that he deserved.
