In August 1853, the Northern Expeditionary Army of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom attacked Tianjin and lost. In 1855, the Northern Expeditionary Army, which had been besieged from Tianjin to Lianzhen, Dongguang County, Hebei Province, was besieged by the monks Greenqin and Shengbaobu, and the Taiping Army was forced to break through due to the exhaustion of ammunition and the lack of winter clothes. During the breakout, Lin Fengxiang was unfortunately captured, so he was escorted to Beijing and executed by Ling Chi.
In 1855, the monk Gelinqin led a horse infantry army to defeat the Northern Expeditionary Army in Shandong, captured Li Kaifang, and accumulated merit and was made the prince of Jin.
During the Second Opium War, Senggelinqin oversaw the battle at the Dagukou Battery in Tianjin, sinking and wounding many British and French gunboats, wounding the commander of the British fleet, Hopper, and killing and wounding 484 Allied soldiers. The following year, it was defeated by the well-equipped and well-trained Anglo-French forces, and Dagu and Tianjin were lost one after another, and then they were defeated at Zhangjiawan and Baliqiao, with heavy casualties.
