In March 1928, the Kuomintang Zhen Shoushan division was ordered to go to Wushan, Baoji long county, to suppress bandits, passing through Linyou County and temporarily stationed. In early April, Wang Taiji, then commander of the third battalion of the division's teaching regiment (secretary of the battalion military branch within the party), summoned a meeting of seven party members of the whole battalion according to the instructions of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, decided to hold an uprising that night, and went north to meet Liu Zhidan's troops.
That night, after the execution of Li Borong, the leader of the reactionary detachment, Wang Taiji led an uprising of 50 or 60 people to evacuate Linyou County and rush north. When the team reached the town of Nanfang in Liquan County, it was surrounded by local vigilante groups, and the rebel team was scattered during the battle.
Although the Linyou uprising failed, it fired the first shot of the Communists' armed resistance against the Kuomintang reactionaries in Xifu, encouraged the communists' confidence in carrying out armed struggle, had a greater impact in the Xifu area, provided experience for the Communists to organize armed uprisings and mutinies, and tempered cadres.
