From December 10 to 16, 2015, Professor Wu Qingyu, Director of the Medical Center of Tsinghua University and President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University (Beijing Huaxin Hospital), led a delegation to visit the University of Western Sydney School of Medicine and the University of Sydney and its affiliated hospitals in Australia.
At the University of Western Sydney School of Medicine, Professor Wu Qingyu and his party were warmly received by The Director of the Faculty, Professor Annemarie Hennessy, and the Deputy Director of the Faculty, Professor Vaughan Macefield. Professor Wu Qingyu introduced the clinical research, teaching, scientific research and postgraduate training of Tsinghua University Medical Center and the First Affiliated Hospital, and Professor Annemarie Hennessy introduced the relevant situation of the Medical School of western Sydney University.
After the exchange, Professor Annemarie Hennessy is very interested in the clinical research of cardiovascular diseases and the interdisciplinary fields of medicine and engineering at Tsinghua University, and the two sides hope to explore opportunities and platforms for extensive exchange and cooperation on postgraduate exchange training, clinical research on cardiovascular diseases, and interdisciplinary disciplines of medicine and engineering.
Subsequently, Professor Wu Qingyu and his party visited the Heart Institute of the University of Sydney School of Medicine, and were warmly received by Professor Paul Pilowsky, the director of the Institute, and personally led Professor Wu Qingyu to visit. The institute is engaged in cardiac imaging, ECG and cerebral nervous system, hypertension, cell therapy, biomaterials, translational medicine and other aspects of research, the environment is first-class, facilities and equipment advanced. After the visit, the two sides held close talks on medical education, cooperation in scientific research projects, and postgraduate training, hoping to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in postgraduate exchange and training and related research fields.
Finally, Professor Wu Qingyu and his entourage, accompanied by Professor Paul Pilowsky, visited the ICU, CCU, Catheterization Room and Scientific Research Center of the Royal Alfred Hospital affiliated to the University of Sydney, and exchanged and discussed with the cardiac surgeons of the hospital on cardiac surgery.
