Comic Strip Story Collection - "Jiao Yulu, Servant of the People"

Jiao Yulu, a name that is deeply imprinted in people's hearts. When people remember him affectionately, they are calling for a noble and immortal spirit.

Jiao Yulu was born on August 16, 1922, to a poor family in Beigushan Village, Gushan Township, Boshan County, Shandong Province. He went to school at the age of 7, studied hard and seriously, and always scored in the top few tests. In 1932, his hometown was plagued by a famine and his family was very poor, and the 11-year-old Jiao Yulu was forced to drop out of school, in addition to farming at home, he did a small business to maintain his livelihood in his spare time, and also worked in a coal kiln. In 1943, Jiao Yulu managed to escape the mining area and return to his hometown. In this year, Boshan was hit by another drought, and Jiao Yulu and his wife went out to escape the wilderness and went to Suqian, Jiangsu Province. In 1945, after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Jiao Yulu returned to his hometown in Boshan. In January 1946, Jiao Yulu joined the Communist Party of China. In the spring of 1949, Jiao Yulu was appointed deputy governor of Daying District, Weishi County. In 1950, he was appointed deputy secretary of the Daying District Committee and mayor of Weishi County. In 1953, he was appointed as the second secretary of the Zhengzhou Prefectural Committee of the Communist Youth League, and in June of the same year, Jiao Yulu responded to the party's call and was transferred to the Luoyang Mining Machinery Manufacturing Plant to participate in industrial construction, and served as the deputy head of the secretary group of the Information Office of the Factory Preparatory Office, responsible for collecting hydrological, geological, meteorological and other historical data in Luoyang, providing a scientific basis for the selection of the factory site. At the end of 1956, he returned to Luoyang Mining Machinery Factory and was appointed as the director of a metalworking workshop and the chief of the dispatching section. During this period, Jiao Yulu suffered from liver disease. In December 1962, Jiao Yulu was transferred to Lankao County, Henan Province, and successively served as the second secretary of the county party committee. He adhered to the leadership work method of seeking truth from facts and the mass line, and together with the cadres and the masses of the whole county, waged a tenacious struggle against the deep natural disasters and worked hard to change the face of Lankao. Suffering from liver cancer, he still endured severe pain and insisted on working, and with his own practical actions, he cast the "Jiao Yulu Spirit". On May 14, 1964, he died of liver cancer in Zhengzhou. His only organizational request before his death was to "transport me back to Lankao and bury me in the sand." I haven't healed the dunes when I'm alive, and I'm going to watch you cure the dunes when I'm dead."

Comrade Jiao Yulu's public servant sentiment of "keeping firmly in mind the purpose and caring for the masses," his pragmatic style of "being diligent and thrifty and seeking truth from facts," his fighting spirit of "starting a business through arduous work, investigating and studying, not being afraid of difficulties, and not being afraid of risks," and his moral sentiments of "being arduous and simple, being honest in performing official duties, and being diligent in performing official duties for the people" have touched and inspired generation after generation.
