Our army was attacked, and at a critical moment a stranger drew his gun and roared: Now all are under my command

In mid-March 1935, when the revolutionary struggle in southwest Fujian was in its most arduous period, the responsible persons of the party, government, and army in various localities decided to hold a meeting in Dafu Village, Yongding County, Fujian Province, after discussion, to discuss new tactics against the enemy.

The people who came to attend the meeting can be said to have gathered the CPC elites in southwest Fujian, mainly including: Chen Tanqiu, one of the 16 founders of the CPC, Zhang Dingcheng, chairman of the Political Commissar committee of the Southwest Fujian Military Commission, Deng Zihui, vice chairman of the board, and Tan Zhenlin, minister of military affairs, are all meritorious figures who have made outstanding contributions to new China.

The holding of this meeting has played an important role in consolidating and developing our party and our army in southwest Fujian, and it is enough to go down in the annals of history.

Because the meeting involved a wide range of aspects, it also attracted the attention of the enemy, and almost caused a disaster in the history of the revolution in the south.

On this night, the Kuomintang dispatched a regiment of troops, divided into three routes, and secretly encircled the village of Dafu, in a vain attempt to "sweep away the CCP elites" attending the meeting.

The situation is extremely grave for our side, for the unit responsible for guarding the heads of state, government and army consists of only one battalion of the independent Twenty-fourth Division of the Red Army.

The commanders and fighters of the battalion had been in a state of continuous marching and fighting for the past few months, and they were already exhausted. When they arrived at Dafu Village late at night, they mistakenly thought that this remote mountain village was safe, so they fell asleep with confidence.

Our army was attacked, and at a critical moment a stranger drew his gun and roared: Now all are under my command

The guerrillas, who had been stationed in the village, enthusiastically vacated the camp for the Red Army brothers who had come from afar to rest. Thinking that the night was already very deep and that there should be no trouble dealing with it for a few hours, they went to camp in the next village.

Although there are still some cadres of the Military and Political Committee of Southwest Fujian in the village, they are very small in number, and they are all organ personnel, not combat units, so their ability to deal with the sudden attack of the enemy is insufficient.

That is to say, when the enemy launches a sneak attack, it is the time when our guard is most lax, and the situation is extremely critical!

To make matters worse, when the commander of the battalion of the Red Twenty-fourth Division learned that the enemy was coming to sneak attack, instead of organizing his troops to counterattack immediately, he made a strange move - he escaped from the front (it is reported that this person later defected to the enemy).

As soon as the battalion commander escaped, the other cadres could not figure out what was happening, and the whole battalion lost its command and fell into a state of scattered sand.

In this chaotic battle, some soldiers carried three heavy machine guns and retreated to the hill behind the village in a panic, but they did not realize that the chiefs were still in the village.

At this moment of great danger, a cadre who was awakened by the sound of gunfire suddenly ran out, stopped in front of the soldiers and shouted: "Can't withdraw!" The chiefs are all in the village, and once you withdraw, what will they do? Set up machine guns at once and resist the enemy's attack! ”

The machine gunners, who did not know the strange cadre at all, ignored his words, and continued to run towards the mountain.

"Whoever takes another step back, I will shoot him immediately!" The cadre roared and chased after him, holding a shell gun in the middle of the road, his eyes wide open.

Faced with such a roar, the machine gunners had to stop and were momentarily overwhelmed.

"Give me a machine gun!" The cadre said breathlessly.

"Who are you?" Why should we listen to you? The machine gunners hesitated.

"Yongdong guerrilla commander Liu Yongsheng!" The enemy is so rampant, the situation is so critical, you should stop talking, and now you are all under my command! ”

Our army was attacked, and at a critical moment a stranger drew his gun and roared: Now all are under my command

Liu Yongsheng said, pulled a machine gun from the soldier's hand, set it up on a large rock next to it, and swept it at the enemy.

Although this was an order given by a stranger, the Red Army soldiers seemed to have a backbone at once, and immediately obeyed Liu Yongsheng's instructions and set up machine guns next to them to start fighting.

The three racks formed a powerful blockade line that blocked the enemy's offensive. The Red Army fighters and the guerrillas who rushed to hear the news also moved closer to them, dragged the enemy to death, and finally counterattacked in a big way under the command of Liu Yongsheng, driving the enemy out of Dafu Village.

Our army was attacked, and at a critical moment a stranger drew his gun and roared: Now all are under my command

It was precisely because Liu Yongsheng took the initiative to take over the command at the most critical moment and instigated a counterattack that Chen Tanqiu, Zhang Dingcheng, Tan Zhenlin, Deng Zihui, and other chiefs who were once in a dangerous situation were able to turn the danger into a disaster.

At the end of the battle, Zhang Dingcheng sighed: "If comrade Liu Yongsheng had not stepped forward, several of our responsible persons might have encountered an accident, and the base area in southwest Fujian that we had painstakingly managed would have been destroyed by the enemy!" On the one hand, we must learn the lesson of this sneak attack, and on the other hand, we must learn from Comrade Liu Yongsheng. ”

It is worth mentioning that Liu Yongsheng, who showed his skills in times of crisis, later became an excellent commander in the history of our army. He became a founding major general in 1955 and later served as deputy commander of the Tenth Corps, deputy commander of the Fuzhou Military Region, and commander of the Fujian Provincial Military Region.
