This incident has really happened in history, but the person who impeached Mingzhu was not Li Guangdi, but a small person who is unknown in the DPRK, Guo Xuan.
On the sixth day of the first month of February in the twenty-seventh year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1688), Yushi Guoxuan asked the scholar Mingzhu and Yu Guozhu to list the eight major crimes. This move can be described as a stone breaking through the water and the sky, setting off an uproar in the imperial court. A shout in silence will always have a special shocking power, and guo Xuan's impeachment is not a nameless person, but a powerful university scholar pearl, which will of course be even more shocking.
Guo Xuan, Shandong Jimo people. When he was young, he was inspired and bitter, read in the mountains, and ate autonomously, and cultivated a cold and grim character of not being in the group. In the early years of the Kangxi Dynasty, he was a jinshi, and 10 years later he was first awarded Wujiangzhi County. In the twenty-fifth year of the Kangxi Dynasty, the Kangxi Emperor was promoted out of line and appointed him to be the inspector of the imperial history of Jiangnan Province. Guo Xiao was grateful for the emperor's grace, and after taking office, it was the prohibition of opening the wind and hearing things, and he played the chapter to impeach Jin Fu, and then played the chapter to impeach the power minister Mingzhu.
After Guo Xuan's participation in Jin Fu's impeachment, his reputation was greatly enhanced, and his courtiers were afraid of him for three points. When he was not on the occasion, it was the day of The Pearl's birthday, and the secretary of state rushed to celebrate the birthday. Guo Xuan also hid the grass in his sleeve and came to the Pearl Mansion. Mingzhu thought that this person had always been stubborn and never willing to meet the minister, and it was not easy to come to wish for a happy birthday this time, so she personally bowed to the invitation.
Guo Xuan entered, did not worship for a long time, and just sat down, he deliberately made a shape of probing in his sleeve. Mingzhu was overjoyed and said, "Isn't it true that Yushi Gong is not shallow in his interest, and has a birthday poem?" Guo Xuan answered three "no" words in a row, so he probed his sleeve and looked out, and it was actually this chapter of the pearl! Before Mingzhu had finished reading, Guo Xuan stood up and said, "Guo Xuan is rude, impeached and deceased, and should be punished!" "Drink a few glasses of birthday wine and go away."
After the Kangxi Emperor received Guo Xuan's performance, he also reversed his previous practice, neither allowing the ministers to discuss the methods of handling the situation, nor investigating whether the performance was true, but instead issued a long edict to the officials, listing the various manifestations of the current corruption of the officials, with special emphasis on the pearls, Buddhism, and other forms of betrayal of public and private interests, and finally announced: Mingzhu and Ledhongge went to the university and handed them over to the minister of poetry and literature for discretion; ordered the university scholar Li Zhifang to return home; the university scholar Yu Guozhu was dismissed; and the Manchu Shangshu Kekun was dismissed from his position with the original product. In this way, all the five cabinet scholars at that time, except for Wang Xi, were dismissed from their posts or ordered to be suspended. Soon, Shangshu Fulun, Xiong Yixiao, Dachina, and Zhao Jishi, who supported Jin Fu's faction, were also dismissed.
Why did Kangxi use Guo Xuan's bullet seal to make a big fuss against Mingzhu and others? The fundamental reason lies in the monopoly of the pearl, especially the reward and punishment by oneself, which is very contrary to Kangxi's ruling ideology. Kangxi said many times, "The power to employ people, is it not the right of people to get the specialty?" If there are officials who are guaranteed to be employed now, they will also be promoted to the rank of zhongguo, that is, those who are well known, according to their effectiveness, and use it as appropriate, otherwise, they will all be discussed. He is the lord of the world, and he refuses to be arbitrary when employing people, and he who is a subject of man is arrogant and self-righteous, can he? ”
In fact, the Kangxi Emperor had been patient with Mingzhu and others for a long time, and in the twenty-sixth year of Kangxi (1687), someone accused Mingzhu and Yu Guozhu of selling officials, and Kangxi asked: "Why did no one participate?" "Who is not afraid of death!" Kangxi said, "With me, if the power is heavier than the four auxiliary subjects!" If I want to go, I will go as far as I can, so what am I afraid of? "The chapter of Guo Xuan's impeachment of Mingzhu was drafted by Xu Qianxue at the behest of Kangxi, but it was only said by Guo Xuan, the imperial historian.
Originally, during the Period of Dorgon and Shunzhi, the way of speech in the middle of the dynasty was still relatively open, and at that time, many imperial historians who dared to tell the truth emerged. In the Kangxi Dynasty, due to the prohibition of rumors, the courtiers of the DPRK carried out cruel blows against the official Yushi, especially when Mingzhu was in power, yushi had to be approved by him, so who dared to speak out.
It was precisely when Kangxi saw this layer that he deeply felt that the imperial power was threatened, so he reopened the rumors and encouraged Yushi to play boldly. In the final analysis, the defeat of the Pearl was a political storm instigated by Kangxi, not by Yushi Guoxuan.
