The long river of history is running endlessly, there are calm waves, there are also waves, let Xiaobian take you into history and understand history.
In the Liberation War, the Second Column of the Northeast Field Army was the column with the largest number of annihilated enemies and the most outstanding performance in the Northeast Field Army, and was known for being good at fighting big battles, hard battles, and vicious battles in the black land, especially the fifth division of the column was the best among the 36 main divisions in Dongye, because the second column had excellent combat capabilities, so it was deeply favored and relied on by Lin Biao, and the second column must be used in every battle.
In November 1948, it was organized into the 39th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and in the Battle of Tianjin, it took the lead in breaking through the defense of Tianjin City and entering the urban area. After that, the battle went south until Zhennanguan, because of its outstanding military achievements, the 39th Army later became a famous ace army of the whole army, and the Fifth Division was also changed to the 116th Division of the 39th Army.
Commander Zhong Wei of the Second Column
From the Battle of Niangniangmiao in 1947, the combat style of the Fifth Division can be seen.
The Battle of Niangniangmiao was the first battle fought by the 5th Regiment of the 2nd Column in the Northeast Winter Offensive, and it was also a hard battle against the 22nd Division of the New 6th Army, the Kuomintang "ace army" that participated in the Indo-Burma Campaign.
The 22nd Division of the New 6th Army, known as the "Tiger Division", was invincible in the early stage of entering the northeast. For example, in early February 1946, when it entered the northeast, its 66th regiment and about 3,000 people of the divisional teaching battalion advanced to Shaling Village in the south of the LiaoHe, becoming a prominent and isolated part. On February 16, the Liaonan Military Region concentrated 8 regiments and charged fiercely with man-sea tactics, and the 66th Regiment used the absolute superiority of heavy machine guns, flamethrowers, and artillery to stand for help. By the night of February 18, the hard bone had not been gnawed down. On the morning of the 19th, the enemy reinforcements arrived and had to be ordered to retreat. The Democratic Coalition suffered more than 2,100 casualties and 624 from the New 22nd Division, with a casualty ratio of 3:1.
In December 1947, less than a month after the end of the autumn offensive, the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army launched a decisive winter offensive in the face of severe cold. The main force of the 2nd Column coordinated with the 29th Division of the 10th Column to encircle the Faku defended by the Temporary 62nd Division of the New 6th Army, in order to annihilate the Provisional 62nd Division, or to encircle the reinforcements. On December 14, the day our army surrounded Faku, the new 22nd Division of the Nationalist ace New 6th Army marched rapidly west along the Tieling-Faku Highway in an attempt to rendezvous with the Provisional 62nd Division.
On December 15, the 15th Regiment of the Second Column advanced to the northeast of the TransferIon Hill and was responsible for blocking reinforcements. After dawn on December 16, the 1st Battalion of the 15th Regiment found that about 1 company of enemy troops had launched an attack on them, and after repelling the enemy, the 1st Battalion, under the command of battalion commander Wang Zhen and instructor Song Haibo, adopted the tactic of "one point and two sides", stepped on the knee-high snow, and launched an attack on the enemy's retreating Shang Sanjiazi. After the enemy resisted a little, he retreated to the Niangniang Temple.
Originally, the Niangniang Temple was also stationed with two companies of enemy troops, totaling 1 battalion. Underestimating the enemy's strength, the 1st Battalion continued to pursue the enemy, and the 22nd Division of the New 6th Army, which had fought against the Japanese army in the Indo-Burma battlefield, had great combat experience, and when the soldiers of our army rushed to only twenty or thirty meters away from the fortifications, they suddenly opened fire with various firearms, and the troops suffered serious casualties. Wang Zhen, commander of the 1st Battalion, and two company commanders were killed, and two instructors and a machine gun company commander were seriously wounded. Platoons, squad leaders, and soldiers suffered nearly half of the casualties, but the troops still marched bravely to the enemy's trenches. Under these circumstances, the 2nd Battalion immediately ordered the deputy battalion commander Zhang Bao to lead the six companies to turn to the shorter hillside to attack, and continued to detour to attack the enemy, deputy battalion commander Zhang was in front, the sixth company commander was in the rear, and when they rushed to the lower left corner of the hill, the enemy machine guns fired fiercely, Zhang Bao's deputy battalion commander and the sixth company commander were sacrificed, and the infantry of the sixth company was still desperately attacking.
The New Sixth Army at the Japanese surrender ceremony
Faced with a stalemate, Zang Gongsheng's chief of staff of the 15th Regiment, Zhu Qian, instructor of the 2nd Battalion, and commander of the 2nd Battalion, gathered together to discuss the enemy's situation, at this time, the enemy took Zhu Qian's life with a bullet, and soon Zang's chief of staff was also seriously injured. Although the casualties of cadres and fighters on the position of the 2nd Battalion were large, the morale of the troops was still high, and like a magnet, the enemy's troops and firepower of the Niangniang temple were attracted, resulting in a favorable situation for the main attacking force of the 1st Battalion to attack.
In the end, the 15th Regiment transferred all three battalions of the reserve team, cooperated with the regimental guard company and the 3rd company of the first battalion, and made a final impact through the blasting through the wall. Under my powerful offensive, more than 400 people were finally annihilated in the first battalion of the 64th Regiment of the New 22nd Division of the Kuomintang Army. The 15th Regiment suffered more than 420 casualties in this battle, including Wang Zhen, commander of the 1st Battalion, Zhu Qian, instructor of the 2nd Battalion, Zhang Bao, deputy battalion commander, Chen Shuo, instructor of the Second Company, Jiao Zhigang, commander of the Fourth Company, and commander of the Fifth Company, who died gloriously; Zang Gongsheng, chief of staff of the Regiment, Zhu Qinchang, instructor of the Fourth Company, He Qiaomin, instructor of the Fifth Company, Wang Xinren, commander of the Sixth Company, and Xu Hongtong, commander of the Machine Gun Company of the Second Battalion, were seriously wounded.
