China's semiconductor industry is not limited to smart phone chips, and the country is very dependent on imports in many segments, such as TV chips.
For a long time, Chinese mainland's TV chips are highly dependent on imports, and the entire domestic market has long been monopolized by the four giants of Morningstar, MediaTek, Lianyong Technology and Realtek Semiconductor.
However, with the strong rise of China's television industry and semiconductor industry, domestic TV chips have begun to regain the initiative from Taiwanese companies.
According to public information, in the first half of 2017, the market share of Taiwanese enterprises in the mainland fell sharply. In the field of 4K TV main control chips, domestic production has obtained 60% of the share.
What is even more gratifying is that now the domestic 8K TV chip has also been successfully launched.
Domestic 8K TV chip came out
Hisense TV officially launched China's first fully self-developed 8K AI picture quality chip on January 11.
Although this domestic 8K TV chip has just been launched, Hisense revealed on the Hisense video interactive platform that in fact, the ultra-high-definition display quality processing chip that supports 8K resolution has begun to be produced.
In addition, what is more surprising is that according to the 2021 semi-annual report of Hisense Group, the ultra-high-definition display quality chip products independently developed by the company have formed technical barriers in 4K/8K processing technology.
Moreover, Hisense's timing control chip shipments have achieved a global lead.
All in all, since the official launch of independent research and development of TV chips in 2001, Hisense Group has achieved remarkable results and has the strength to challenge Taiwanese enterprises.
End MediaTek's monopoly
In terms of research and development speed, it took only four years for his original Hisense Group to achieve a breakthrough from zero to one; in terms of product technology, public information shows that Hisense has reached the industry-leading level in many aspects such as the short motion estimation motion and the improvement of image super-resolution.
Therefore, in the author's opinion, Hisense Group has been able to end the monopoly of Taiwanese companies such as MediaTek on the Chinese mainland market in the field of TV chips.
The reason why Hisense was able to achieve such outstanding results in the face of the overall backward strength of the mainland is mainly due to two reasons in the author's opinion.
On the one hand, in recent years, China's smart TV field and the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain are steadily advancing. Domestic TELEVISION sets have gained more and more market discourse, and technological breakthroughs in domestic screens have further promoted the development of the domestic TV industry.
Today, the domestic TV industry in turn provides a broad space for the development of domestic TV chips.
Especially in the past two years, in the case of continuous stimulation of domestic demand, domestic substitution has become the mainstream, and the rise of domestic products is just in time.
On the other hand, it lies in the perseverance of head companies such as Hisense. In addition to Hisense, Chinese companies such as Huawei HiSilicon and Haier have also participated in the independent research and development of domestic TV chips.
Especially Huawei HiSilicon, although Huawei does not involve too much in the field of television sets, a variety of TV chips under Huawei HiSilicon have successfully entered the supply chain system of giant enterprises such as Hisense, Konka, and Sharp.
In addition, there are also domestic semiconductor companies that are not well known, such as Jingchen and Ruidike, which are not well known, and have also achieved corresponding technological breakthroughs to help domestic TV chips go to a higher level.

It can be seen that Hisense, Huawei HiSilicon, BOE, Huaxing Optoelectronics and other Chinese enterprises in other segments are gradually realizing the construction of a localized industrial chain from the upstream and downstream ends.
Perhaps one day in the future, domestic TELEVISION opportunities become 100% domestic television sets, no longer relying on any technology or components overseas.
However, the dilemma of China's semiconductor industry being stuck in the neck from the core equipment is difficult to break. On the one hand, it is because the overseas blockade of the country is relatively large; on the other hand, it is because it is too difficult to manufacture cutting-edge equipment such as lithography machines.
With China's own strength, it is almost impossible to achieve the independent research and development of EUV lithography machines, so where will China's semiconductor industry go?
