On January 13, French telecom subsidiary Orange, VR studio Emissive, and production and marketing company Amacliio Productions, in collaboration with the mayor of Paris and Notre Dame, launched a VR interactive app "Eternal Notre-Dame" (Chinese literally translated as Eternal Notre Dame). The app will take you up to 45 minutes of experience, including taking you back 850 years, exploring the heyday of Notre Dame architecture and restoring the site that was destroyed in the fire to its former glory.
According to Qingting.com, "Eternal Notre-Dame" will be open to the public on January 15 at Espace Grande Arche in La Defense, Paris, and the equipment for the experience will be experienced in the HTC Vive Focus 3 all-in-one machine. Starting in September this year, it will also tour in France and other European countries, with the next stop being Notre Dame Square. In terms of details, the content in the application refers to high-resolution internal 3D scan data and old photos, accurately reproducing the internal and external structures of Notre Dame Cathedral in VR. You can explore the building's halls, roofs, stained glass windows, and follow narration to learn about the cathedral's history and secrets.
Since the 2019 Notre Dame fire, Orange has begun to invest in technological innovation to contribute to the restoration of the cathedral, and the use of VR to restore history is also one of the directions. The developer of Eternal Notre-Dame is Emissive Studio, which has previously worked on projects such as Adidas VR, The Enemy, and the Louvre's first VR exhibition, Mona Lisa: Beyond the Glass.
