Located in the Minjiang River in Jiangkou Ancient Town, Pengshan District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, the site of the late Ming Dynasty Peasant Army leader Zhang Xianzhong and the Southern Ming general Yang Zhan during the Battle of Jiangkou in 1646. A total of more than 50,000 water relics have been excavated here, which is a major archaeological discovery in the field of Ming and Qing history research, and was selected as one of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China in 2017.

The excavation of the battlefield site at the end of the Ming Dynasty in Jiangkou is the first time in China's archaeological community to excavate the cofferdam technology in the inland water area, and its cofferdam area is so large that it has created a precedent for inland river archaeology. Whether in the preliminary preparation or excavation process, a large number of scientific and technological means have been used, which can be called a combination of modern working methods and the latest scientific and technological means, and can also be said to be a great practice of new archaeological technology.

In order to let more the public understand archaeology and protect cultural relics, in the later stage of the excavation of the battlefield sites of the late Ming Dynasty in Jiangkou, for the first time in the country, volunteers were openly recruited to participate in the archaeological excavations, which built a bridge between the public and archaeology, so that the public could truly understand archaeology, walk into archaeology, share archaeological results, and also opened a new path in popularizing archaeological knowledge, which received widespread attention.
