Recently, the 3 millionth engine plant of SAIC Passenger Vehicle Nanjing Base engine plant officially rolled off the production line.
Since the successful mass production of the first NSE 1.5 VCT in the Engine Plant of Nanjing Base on March 8, 2010, and in the past 12 years, the engine plant has achieved the actual mass production of two major NSE/SGE platforms, 10 products and 130 models, with an average annual output of more than 250,000 units, of which the NSE engine platform has created a good result of more than 2.56 million units, providing strong support for the hot main models of SAIC passenger cars. Last year, the engine plant produced nearly 510,000 units a year, a record high in annual history.
The engine plant also provides a solid guarantee for SAIC Passenger Vehicles to further open up the international market. Since 2014, the base has continued to efficiently supply parts and engines to SAIC Passenger Cars' overseas bases in Thailand, India, Pakistan and other regions, ensuring the supply of complete vehicles in overseas markets with high-quality and cost-effective engine supplies.
The engine plant at the Nanjing base continues to set new records for rapid development – the first 1 million units took 6 and a half years for the engine plant; the second 1 million units took 3 years and 2 months; and the third 1 million units took 2 years and 3 months. Adhering to the "five zero" quality management system of "zero defects in quality manufacturing, zero complaints in customer service, zero blind spots in process control, zero errors in exquisite details, and zero distance in effective pulling", the AUDIT score of the engine factory products of SAIC Passenger Vehicle Nanjing Base has been stable for a long time below QK < 1.1, the engine pass rate is as high as 99.5%, and the after-sales IPTV indicator PDI failure rate in 2021 is only 0.06, reaching the international first-class level.
In the process of development, the engine plant of Nanjing base has established and improved the management system including cost control, quality control, efficiency improvement, etc., formed a comparative advantage with differentiated competitiveness, and achieved a series of technical achievements.
In the past three years, the engine factory has increased the localization of equipment and 105 localization optimization projects, which has greatly saved manufacturing costs; seven labor model technician innovation studios have been established successively, from on-site management to technical research. At the same time, the factory also attaches great importance to the construction of talents, practices the concept of car building and education, and cultivates a group of operational experts and technical backbones, which have been honored in national and provincial and municipal competitions for many years. Thanks to the comprehensive promotion of digital transformation, the engine factory of Nanjing Base has also passed the certification of Jiangsu Province Demonstration Intelligent Workshop, and the base and its employees have won the second prize of national equipment innovation achievement management, Nanjing Labor Model, Nanjing May Day Labor Medal and other authoritative recognition and commendation.
The high-quality development of the engine plant at the Nanjing base is a microcosm of the digital era of SAIC's passenger car layout.
