Ignite the upper body.

When the game console market forms a monopoly competition, it is also the day when the debate between the major consoles and the fans of manufacturers is opened. With Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and other manufacturers with their own unique products to form a long-term trend of nearly two decades, some players' "platform war" has also continued to this day.

There is little difference between players' arguments and others on the Web: discussions about things that are not right for people are the most valuable and relatively rare; attacks on people who are not right are more common in their bad effects.

There are always netizens who rise the virtual controversy to reality, and do not hesitate to use their true identity or the other party as an argument to defend their views and vanity, and in the end, not only can not convince the opposing point of view, but also attract more fierce attacks and countless troubles.

A recent example from an Indian doctor and Sony fan, the screen name Schreveera. He runs a podcast called "PS VORTEX" and has accounts on Twitter, Youtube and Spotify music software. Shreeveera claims to have played all of the PlayStation consoles, including the PS1, and grabbed the PS5 on the PS5 launch day. The background images of his Twitter homepage are all masterpieces that have been exclusive to the PS platform in recent years, or have been exclusive.

"Avid Player"

Since 2012, Shreeveera and his podcasts have been at the forefront of the console debate, frequently commenting on current issues in the console gaming industry and standing on the Sony side. Shreeveera has always referred to the Microsoft fans who come to the line as "Xbots", a term that is a common phrase used by European and American gamers to Microsoft and Xbox fans, with a hint of pessimism.

In response to recent questions from several Xbox fans about the identity of the "doctor" in Twitter's resume, on March 5, Shreeveera walked into the operating room, put on a blue surgical gown and a black mask, and took a short video with her mobile phone and uploaded it to Twitter to try to verify her identity.

Shreeveera probably achieved his goal, and no one has seen anything fake in his video to date — after all, there's a patient on the operating table who is undergoing surgery.

Shreeveera first gave the patient and several working colleagues a close-up. According to his introduction, they had to remove the patient's gallbladder, for which they needed to perform anesthesia, intubation, adjustment of the ventilator.

The video then showed an anesthesia record with the names of the patient and "Dr. Shreeveera", confirming that Schreveera was an anesthesiologist. The record bears the trademark of a hospital called Medigope, which the search engine shows is located in Bangalore, India.

At the end of the video, Shreeveera shifts the camera to herself and gives her thumbs up. In the video caption, he writes, "Go ahead and slander my identity and profession, because you Xbots are incapable of discussing the facts," and "Save lives—my job; host controversy—my hobby."

Since the moment the video was uploaded, the thrust of the controversy should not be a niche game topic, but a popular ethical critique. Shreeveera prides himself on his profession, but what he does is not in line with the doctor's professional ethics — he has published patients' medical records and surgical videos, which has constituted an invasion of the patient's personal privacy.

According to the Ethics Regulations of the Indian Medical Council published in 2002, doctors "shall not divulge secrets that patients learn in their professional work", with the exception of three cases: a judge makes a request in court; a particular individual or community is at serious and established risk; and a patient has a disease that requires notification, such as certain infectious diseases. Obviously, Shreeveera is not affiliated with either of the above.

Those netizens who do not live in India, although they do not understand the situation in India, can also find relevant provisions from the regulations of their own countries or regions, or simply intuitively point out the inappropriateness of Schreveera's video recording behavior in the operating room.

"While his team is ripping the patient's stomach open, he's enjoying the host debate."

"You invade patient privacy for the sake of Twitter likes, and eventually you lose your doctor's license"

At the same time, a group of netizens followed the search engine to Find Medipe Hospital and published dozens of 1-star bad reviews on Google pages. At present, these bad reviews have been deleted by Google, and the hospital score has risen to 2 stars, but most of the comments have been excerpted by netizens in the form of screenshots or copied text.

Some commentators accused Shreeveera and Medipe Hospital of violating professional ethics and disrespecting the patients' personal privacy, demanding that the hospital immediately fire Schreveera.

Other comments are unsympathetic passages for some players.

On March 7, Shreeveera apologized on Twitter while uploading a video on Youtube. In the video, he admits that the mistake of throwing his personal and professional life into debate is "naïve" and "stupid", and he regrets it very much, and asks the players for forgiveness; but he also defends his actions to a certain extent.

Shreeveera claimed he had sought the patient's consent before filming the operating room video, although he failed to provide any evidence. As for his "hobbies," he explains: "On a personal level, I don't hate anyone. If I don't like the console they're playing with, I'll only give you an opinion on what that console offers you..."

Shreeveera did not mention whether he had kept his job, but he received a large number of human flesh searches and racist harassment, which have affected his real life. Probably because of this, Shreeveera deleted its Twitter account and Youtube channel for herself and the "PS VORTEX" podcast, which is basically equivalent to withdrawing from the Internet.

After this, a group of netizens who called themselves "Microsoft fans" rushed to celebrate, and another group of netizens who called themselves "Sony fans" publicly accused the other party of having no empathy, hoping that Shreeveera would be fired and completely "social death". There are also relatively rational players who believe that although Scheeveera has made a big mistake, it should not be so personally attacked, calling for the game debate to stop in the game circle.

However, the lack of virtue and the plot that continue to emerge today show that Shreeveera's story did not sound the alarm for the "fanatical players" who were deeply involved in the debate, but instead became a new digital cannonball.
