The reason why Wuling Hongguang was successful was that it really solved the needs of consumers at that time. Some consumers in the fourth- and fifth-tier markets are not satisfied with the simplicity and cheapness of micro-surfaces, and the budget is not enough to consume real passenger cars. The cheap and suitable for pulling people and pulling goods can naturally become a market for harvesting this part of the vacuum.

Wuling Hongguang's upgraded version of Baojun 730 can also sell 50,000 yuan per month at its peak. Compared with Hongguang, Baojun 730 focuses more on people between pulling goods and pulling people. And now, whether it belongs to Wuling Hongguang or Baojun 730, the era has passed. We now need a more refined, more MPV-like car, so Jiachen appeared.

Jiachen comes from Wuling, or more precisely, the silver label Wuling. From the current product planning of Wuling, in the future, Red Label Wuling will focus more on commercial use, and Baojun will be more youthful, and the role of boutique family cars undertaken by Baojun will gradually be handed over to Silver Label Wuling. Of course, Silver Label Wuling has not given up the cost-effective route.

Silver Label Wuling already has two models: MPV Capgemini and SUV Xingchen. The market performance is good, especially the latter's sales volume is very hot, and the monthly sales of 20,000 are not a thing.

What is the difference between Jiachen, which is also an MPV, and Capgemini? Positioned, Capgemini is a 6-seater car, while Jiachen is a 7-seater car. Capgemini will take a more refined route, while Jiachen will be smaller in size, with one more seat and a more practical route.

There are two points of improvement

First, it looks more refined. Whether it is the exterior or the interior, it is difficult for us to associate Jiachen with models such as Wuling Hongguang. The design style of the overall appearance is very similar to the release of Wuling Star last year.

Interior design has also made visible progress. The overall style is obviously more homely, and it can be said that the function of pulling goods has been completely abandoned.

Secondly, the comfort is better. According to the current outflow of product information, Jiachen has improved its quiet design and greatly improved the sound insulation design of the vehicle. The interior of the car is also arranged in a stepped manner, and each row of passengers has a good sense of space.

There are two deficiencies

First, there are no sliding doors. Due to cost reasons, it is still a four-door side-opening design. The failure to use the sliding door is understandable, but it is not a small impact on the practicality of the whole vehicle.

Second, the power is too old. The 1.5T EFI + CVT powertrain equipped by Jiachen is an old acquaintance of Wuling's product line. With a maximum horsepower of 147 hp and a peak torque of 250 N·m, it was more than enough for this car. In today's continuous upgrading of other independent brand power, the advantages of this machine may be left with leather and reliability. It is possible to replace it with a new 177-horsepower 1.5T engine.

Possible pricing

Judging from the existing product information of Silver Label Wuling, it is still the main cost performance. Therefore, Jiachen will definitely have a price that is close to the people. In contrast, the stars based on Baojun 530 are slightly lower than baojun 530. At present, the CVT model of Baojun 730 is priced at 91,800 to 101,800. The price of Jiachen may be less than 90,000, and the high-end model is about 100,000.

We are not optimistic about Wuling Jiachen, not entirely for the product level. Of course, Jiachen also has some problems: the platform is based on the old Baojun 730, old bottles of new wine; the power system is old,...... However, at this level of the market, these are not the pain points that consumers are most concerned about, on the contrary, Jiachen's overall sales are good.

If it sells for 80,000-100,000 yuan, there are not many competing models at such a price. There are also two relatives of their own:

MPV is so hard to sell

In the competitive market of MPV, they rely not only on space, but on the utilization of space. European Vans, such as The Metaway, are similar in size to passats, but offer a richer, more impressive interior space. At the extreme, such as Japan's various square boxes Kei-Car, it is even more square to use space to the limit.

The domestic MPV product of 100,000 yuan is not high in space utilization efficiency. Some seven-seater models also have a third row of space that is not ideal. What's more, with the same platform as cars and SUVs, the low floor advantage of MPV does not exist. Some MPV spaces are not as good as SUV at the same price, and it is naturally less competitive than the three-row SUV at the same price.

In the past, the problem faced by 100,000 yuan MPV was not solved by Jiachen. From the jiachen data currently flowing out, we do not see any unique insights into its space utilization. For example, it is not difficult to see from the figure that the luggage space behind the third row tends to be nothing. Even, the overall size of Jiachen is still smaller than the 6-seat Capgemini.

Positioned at 80,000-100,000 yuan, there are many SUVs that can provide automatic transmission + 7 seats. Many of these sizes have reached the size of medium and large SUVs. Combined with a more powerful appearance and better passability, it is obvious and self-evident who consumers will choose.

The next god car

What should be

What will be the next new god car in Wuling? I have two thoughts:

One is a little calmer: maybe the silver version of Baojun 510? The emergence of Stars and Jiachen shows that some models of Baojun will gradually shift, and Baojun 510 itself was once a fire SUV. If there was a better design and affordable Baojun 510, would it be on fire again?

But this will not solve the problems faced by Wuling. Everyone's consumption upgrade is becoming more and more obvious, and the average budget for car purchase is getting higher and higher, but Wuling is still taking the old model over and over again. The improvement of Wuling's brand power is a bit unable to catch up with the speed of everyone's consumption upgrade.

The second is more bold: the Chinese version of the square box Kei-Car, perhaps an electric car? As consumption becomes more rational, maybe the square box can also catch fire in China? With power-on drive, space and function may have more playability.

Of course, the real god car must be outperforming the market and leading the demand. As a national brand, Wuling also needs to continue to refuel.
