Emperor Xuan of Han: He was the Son of Heaven who came out of prison and brought a prosperous life to the people

author:Jinwa Fun Talk

In September 74 BC, the 18-year-old Liu Qing was welcomed into the Weiyang Palace by the general Huo Guang, and was first given the title of Marquis of Yangwu, and soon after he ascended the throne as Emperor Xuan of Han.

Speaking of this, Liu Yuan's lineage can be called unique in history: Liu Yuan's real name is Liu Yiji, his parents died just a few months after his birth, he grew up in prison since childhood, and he lost his freedom at a young age; after he was a little older, he left prison and grew up in the court, without knowing what royal glory was. However, such a person, after taking the throne, exerted great efforts to govern, not only united with Wusun to break the Xiongnu and pacify the Western Qiang, but also created a situation of economic prosperity and people's prosperity, and became the founder of the "rule of filial piety".

How legendary is the experience of Emperor Xuan of Han's illness?

1. The lucky ones in the unfortunate family

Liu Yi's grandfather was Liu Zhao, the crown prince of Emperor Wu of Han. Liu Zhi was the eldest son of Emperor Wu of Han, and his mother was Wei Zifu, who was once very favored by Emperor Wu of Han, and Liu Zhi was deeply loved by Emperor Wu of Han as soon as he was born, and was made crown prince at the age of 7.

Liu Was generous in character and gentle and cautious in his treatment, and although he had many advantages, Emperor Wu of Han disliked him more and more. Because as the number of concubines favored by Emperor Wu of Han gradually increased, more princes were born, and Emperor Wu of Han's favorite was his youngest son Liu Fuling, who felt that Liu Zhi was not like himself; coupled with wei Zifu's old age and loss of favor, Emperor Wu of Han disliked Liu Zhao even more. Until Emperor Wu of Han was old, he favored Jiang Chong, and Jiang Chong had the intention to frame Liu Zhao, so he single-handedly concocted the "Scourge of witchcraft".

In the "Scourge of the Witches", Empress Wei Zifu and Crown Prince Liu Zhu committed suicide, and Crown Princess Shi Liangdi and the crown prince's two sons, daughters-in-law and daughters were killed successively.

Liu Jin's father was Liu Jin, the eldest son of the crown prince, and his mother was Liu Jin's wife, Wang Wengxu. At the time of the "Curse of the Witches", Liu had just been born for a few months and was still in his infancy, so he luckily escaped a difficult situation and was temporarily taken into the official prison.

At this time, Liu's mother, Lady Wang, was already dead, and Liu's illness had only been imprisoned for a few months. Emperor Yingji of the Imperial Household accepted Emperor Wu of Han's will and tracked down Wu Jiao. Bing Ji was well aware of the innocence of the crown prince Liu Zhi's family, and he pitied the young and orphaned Liu Yi, so he entrusted him to the loyal female prisoners Zhao Zhengqing and Hu Group, and also took money from his own Feng Lu to buy food and clothes, and raised Liu Yi to grow up.

2, escaped another disaster

In 87 BC, Emperor Wu of Han was seriously ill, and someone said that in the prison of Chang'an, there was the qi of the Son of Heaven.

At this time, Emperor Wu of Han was physically weak and delirious, but he was very determined to firmly control the power in his hands. After hearing such a report, he immediately ordered that the names of the prisoners in the Chang'an official prison be copied clearly, and no matter what kind of crime they committed, they would all be executed.

There was a sudden cry of mourning in Chang'an Prison.

When officials sent by Emperor Wu of Han raided the official prison administered by Bingji, they encountered strong confrontation from Bingji. Bing Ji kept the gate closed tightly and resolutely refused to let the emissary in, he said: "The Emperor's great-grandson (referring to Liu Yi) is here, and ordinary people cannot be innocently killed, let alone the great-grandchildren of the Holy One!" ”

The emissary had no choice but to truthfully report to Emperor Wu of Han.

Only then did Emperor Wu of Han know that the original crown prince Liu Zhu still had a bloodline in the world. Long before that, he had realized that the death of the prince was very unjust, so he did not hesitate to destroy the three tribes of Jiangchong and built a "Si Womb" to express his longing for the prince.

After knowing that the crown prince still had his grandson Liu Ill, Emperor Wu of Han was both sad and quite relieved, so he issued an edict granting amnesty to the world.

3. The efforts of Bingji

At this time, Liu was 5 years old, and he spent more than four years in prison. Although he was born in the royal family, he never enjoyed much royal treatment, and the royal glory of his great-grandfather Emperor Wu of Han was great, but what was sprinkled on him was only a little freedom with the "amnesty of the world".

Bing Ji felt that the conditions in the prison were too poor to be suitable for Liu Yi to live, so he sent him to the Jingzhao Yin Zhi Office, but because there was no relevant edict, Jing Zhaoyin did not dare to accept it, and a few days later, Liu Yi was sent back to the prison.

Bing Ji hoped to raise Liu Yi well and grew up, but suffering from no relevant edicts, Liu Ji's food and clothing supply had no special expenses, and all the expenses were taken out of his own Feng Lu on his own initiative.

Bing Ji pitied Liu Liangdi's death, and he found out that Liu Liangdi's grandmother Shi Liangdi still had relatives in her family, so he sent the child to Shi Liangdi's family and gave it to Shi Liangdi's mother and brother to raise.

Shi Liangdi's mother was old, she remembered that her daughter died early, there were no other members of liu's family alive, and Liu was really lonely and lonely, so she personally took care of him until she died in her old age.

4. Longer than the court

In February 87 BC, Emperor Wu of Han died, and on his deathbed he left a will, ordering that Liu Yi be adopted in the Ye Ting court and recorded him in the royal genealogy.

There was an official edict on the raising of Liu Yi, and coupled with the death of his great-grandmother, Liu Yi had to leave the Shi family and be raised in the court.

For the young Liu Yiji, although he could not yet appreciate the significance of being entered into the royal genealogy, this fully showed that Emperor Wu of Han recognized his royal status, which was of great benefit to his future status promotion.

After the death of Emperor Wu of Han, Liu Fuling took the throne as an assistant to Emperor Zhao of Han, the generals Huo Guang, Shangguan Jie, and others; the right general Zhang Anshi acted steadily and cautiously, and Huo Guang valued him very much.

Liu Yi had been raised in Ye Ting, and Zhang He was Zhang Anshi's older brother. Zhang He was once the household official of the crown prince Liu Zhao, so he took meticulous care of Liu Yi, and also deliberately took out his own Feng Lu to provide Liu Yi with books and use.

Liu Yi has loved to learn since he was a child, he also likes to make friends, and when he is a little older, he often travels between the Chang'an Tombs and the Three Auxiliaries to investigate the gains and losses of the officials and experience the sufferings of the people.

5. Zhang family brothers

Zhang He personally saw that Liu Yi had grown into an adult and often praised him. Once, Zhang He praised Liu Yi in front of his younger brother Zhang Anshi, and also talked about the strange signs that accompanied Liu Yi when he had appeared, such as Liu Yi was already in a different state, and there was often a radiance in the place where he lay; Liu He went to the shop to buy things when he was out, but all the shops he patronized would immediately have hot business, and so on.

Zhang He was very fond of Liu Yi, and when he talked about these different phases, he was even more praised for Liu Yi. However, compared with Zhang He's enthusiastic exposure, Zhang Anshi seemed particularly calm and introverted, he believed that now that Emperor Han Zhao was young, as a courtier, he should not vigorously praise other royal descendants, so he drank Zhang He in time and did not let him praise Liu Yiji too much.

Zhang Anshi's move was obviously very wise, and later after Liu Yi had taken the throne, he had specifically praised him: when the descendants of the royal family were in a humble place, if they received more praise, it would not only be a good thing, but perhaps it would lead to the disaster of killing themselves.

Although the Zhang family brothers have praised Liu's illness and one has never mentioned the advantages of Liu's illness, their original intentions are all the same, and they all have factors to safeguard Liu's illness.

6. Marry his wife Xu Pingjun

Liu's illness had gradually grown, and Zhang He began to pay attention to his marriage. Zhang He originally wanted to marry his granddaughter to Liu Yi as a wife, but when Zhang Anshi found out, he once again angrily stopped him.

Zhang He dismissed the idea of marrying his granddaughter to Liu Yiji, but he was still very enthusiastic about the marriage for Liu Yi.

There was a tyranny room under the court, and the official in charge of the tyre room, Xu Guanghan, had a daughter named Xu Pingjun, who was one year younger than Liu Yi. Xu Pingjun originally promised ouhou's son as a wife, but when the two families were getting married, Ouhou's son died.

After Zhang He heard about this incident, he specially set up a banquet to entertain Xu Guanghan and act as a matchmaker for Liu Yi. Zhang He said to Xu Guanghan: "Although the emperor's great-grandson is now a humble status, he is after all a relative of the imperial family, and he may be able to be crowned marquis in the future, and I think you can marry your daughter to him." Xu Guanghan immediately gladly agreed.

7. Turmoil on the throne

In 74 BC, the 21-year-old Emperor Zhao of Han died. Because Emperor Zhao of Han had no heirs, Liu He, the king of Changyi, was conscripted into the dynasty, first made crown prince, and took the throne a few days later, known as "Emperor Of Han".

Emperor Deposed of The Han Dynasty was the shortest reigning emperor in the history of the Western Han Dynasty, and he reigned for only 27 days before being deposed as a shuren because of his absurd and absurd behavior.

The throne was empty, and the 18-year-old royal descendant Liu Yi had entered the vision of the ministers.

The first to persuade Huo Guang, Zhang Anshi, and other important ministers to make Liu ill was du Yannian, a servant. Huo Guang has always attached great importance to Du Yannian, and Du Yannian's son Du Tuo usually has a good relationship with Liu Yannian, so Du Yannian knows Liu Yannian better and knows that he has good character. Du Yannian knew that the great general Huo Guang and others had discussed the establishment of the emperor, so he recommended Liu Yiji to Huo Guang.

At this time, Bingji was transferred by Huo Guang to serve as the Grand Master of Guanglu, and before that he had served as the long history of the great general Huo Guang, and Huo Guang also valued him.

Bing Ji saw that Huo Guang and Zhang Anshi and other important ministers had been undecided about the establishment of a monarch, so he also recommended Liu Yiji to Huo Guang. The Biography of Wei Xiang Bingji in the Book of Han records that Bingji said to Huo Guang:

“...... Eavesdropping on the people, observing what they said, the princes and patriarchs were in the ranks, and they did not hear about it. And the great-grandson of Emperor Wu raised by the will was already in the outer home of the court, and Ji Qian's envoy ju jundi saw his young age, and he has been eighteen or nineteen years old, through the scriptures, with beautiful materials, and peace and tranquility. May the general discuss in detail, participate in the turtle, and praise it, first make it into service, let the world know it, and then decide on a great strategy, and the world is very fortunate! ”

Bingji's gist is: I once listened privately to the words of ordinary people and examined the truth or falsity of what they were talking about. As far as I know, those Han princes who are now reigning do not have a good reputation among the people. The great-grandson of Emperor Wu of Han mentioned in the previous edict of Emperor Wu of Han, Liu Yi, is still living in the homes of ordinary people outside the court, and I know him a little. When I used to let him live in the county mansion, he was still young, and now he was eighteen or nineteen years old, he was proficient in scripture, very talented, and steady, idle, and peaceful. I hope that the general will examine him carefully to see if he is a usable material; and then you can refer to the results of divination. If you feel that his current status is humble and not suitable for sudden nobility, you can also let him enter the palace to serve the empress dowager, so that everyone can understand his behavior, and then make major decisions. If this matter is handled properly, it is of course the luck of the people of the world!

8. Smooth positioning

Zhang Anshi had known from his brother that Liu Yi had already handled people, so after hearing Du Yannian and Bingji's recommendation, he had no objections.

Huo Guang successively heard the two ministers mention that Liu Yi had already been a person, and these two people were still people of his own weight, and he felt that Liu Yi must have his superiority, so he really summoned Liu Yi to enter the palace to meet The Empress Shangguan, first made him the Marquis of Yangwu, and soon succeeded in taking the throne, for Emperor Xuan of Han.

Looking at Emperor Xuan of Han's step-by-step from prison to the throne, the support of nobles is obviously indispensable: in his infancy, Bingji, Zhao Zhengqing, Hu Group, Zhang He and others were simply the existence of relatives for him. In particular, although bingji was not high in status at first, if it were not for his protection, Liu Yi might have died at the hands of his majestic and invincible great-grandfather like his grandfather and parents.

Liu Yi's great-grandfather was already on top, and his status was naturally extremely respectable, but how could he ever have the slightest warmth or even pity for his relatives and concubines? The ultimate purpose of everything he has is nothing more than to use it for himself, and once he cannot use it for himself, whether it is a person or a thing, he will lose the value of existence in the world from then on.

In contrast, ordinary officials such as Bing Ji, Zhang He, Zhao Zhengqing, and Hu Group, or ordinary people, were more amiable and respectable.
