On May 29, Beijing time, the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in Hong Kong, China, held a press conference at which the head of the case explained to the media the details of the ICAC's crackdown on football corruption.

Since the Independent Commission Against Corruption launched the "Green Grass" operation last year, it has cracked many football cases involving fake gambling. Recently, after an in-depth investigation, the ICAC launched an extended operation against Operation "Green Grass".

It is reported that the latest action involves a number of players, many of whom play for Hong Kong Super League teams.

This afternoon, the ICAC held a press conference at its headquarters in North Point, announcing that 12 people had been arrested in the past two days as the brainminds and backbone of the match-fixing syndicate, including the head coach and two players of a Hong Kong Super League team, and six coaches and players from two second division teams.

This is not the first time that Hong Kong, China players have been involved in football corruption. In May 2023, the ICAC arrested 23 suspects, including one coach and 11 players, who were accused of group match-fixing in the 2022-23 Hong Kong League One season. Although the ICAC did not release the details of the case, Hong Kong media revealed that it was the veteran team of Hong Kong, China, Yu Yuen who was involved.
