The 3rd and 4th places in the three groups of the round of 18, a total of 6 teams are divided into two groups for play-offs, and each group of 3 teams will play a single round-robin competition, and the first place in the group will advance to the 2026 World Cup;

The second-placed teams from both groups face off over two legs of home-and-away matches to determine the last place to qualify for the intercontinental play-offs.

Continental play-offs (last 2 teams qualify for the World Cup)

Six teams from the AFC (1), the African Football Confederation (1), the South American Football Confederation (1), the Oceania Football Confederation (1) and the CONCACAF (2) compete for the final two places. Six teams will be seeded for two finals based on the FIFA rankings, and the other four teams will be drawn for the semi-finals, with the winners playing against the seeded teams. The intercontinental play-offs will be held at the host of the World Cup for field testing.
