Nearby video surveillance showed that at 12:20:29 a.m. on June 27, the embankment near the Taohuajiang Bridge (commonly known as the "Old Bridge") in Guanyuan, Taojiang County, suddenly collapsed. Since the incident occurred in the early morning, no citizens passed by, but fortunately there were no casualties.
This danger is located on the right bank of the Otter River in Taojiang County, 0+000 in the east district of Chengguanyuan. It was measured to be 4.7 meters long, 3.9 meters wide and 2.2 meters deep, and was located close to the water surface of the embankment. Starting at more than 7 o'clock in the morning, the heads of relevant departments such as water conservancy, urban management, traffic police, housing and construction, electric power, and emergency response rushed to the scene of the accident one after another, set up a cordon around the nest, and set up construction fences on the periphery to prevent irrelevant personnel from entering and exiting. The traffic police department is on duty at the bridgehead to maintain traffic order.
It is understood that there is an abandoned drainage culvert buried under the drop nest. According to the on-site analysis of experts from the water conservancy department, due to the aging of the culvert pipe, there are many leakage points, and the long-term rainwater seepage erosion has led to the gradual hollowing out of the soil below.
