Today, Samsung Electronics announced the launch of three new mobile image sensors designed for smartphone cameras: ISOCELL HP9, ISOCELL GNJ, and ISOCELL JN5. Each of these three sensors has its own unique features designed to enhance the performance and experience of smartphone photography.
The key features of the three sensors are as follows: The ISOCELL HP9 is the industry's first 200-million-pixel telephoto sensor with 200 million 0.56-micron pixels in a 1/1.4-inch optical format. It has 12% better light sensitivity and 10% better autofocus performance. With Tetra²pixel technology, it is able to merge 16 pixels into a large 12-megapixel sensor that captures crisp portrait photos even in low-light environments.
The ISOCELL GNJ is a 50-megapixel dual-pixel sensor in an optical format of 1/1.57 inch. It combines dual-pixel technology and in-sensor zoom to deliver crisp images and high-resolution images in both video and photo mode. In addition, the sensor consumes 29% and 34% less power in preview mode and 4K 60fps video mode, respectively.
The ISOCELL JN5 is available in a 1/2.76-inch optical format with 50 million 0.64-micron pixels. It features a wide color gamut, excellent autofocus performance, and a consistent photo experience. With dual vertical gate technology, the sensor is able to reduce noise in low light, while the built-in hardware Remosaic algorithm improves shooting speed and smoothness of real-time zoom.
