The National Government Examination Institute was originally a martial temple built in the 27th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1394), and was partially destroyed by the war during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. In the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930), the National Government Examination Institute was established. In the twentieth year of the Republic of China (1931), buildings such as Mingzhi Building, Hengjian Building, Gongming Hall, Ningyuan Building, Zhixian Pavilion and Hualin Pavilion were successively established on the abandoned site. In the twenty-third year of the Republic of China (1934), Baozhang Pavilion was built.
