In ancient times, Taishang Laojun came to the world three times in order to ignite the destined people in the world.
His first incarnation was Huang Shi Gong. Huang Shigong waited on the bridge for the person who was destined for him. Finally, one day, Zhang Liang passed by. Huang Shigong deliberately threw his shoes off the bridge to test Zhang Liang's character. Zhang Liang not only did not get angry, but also respectfully picked up the shoes for him and put them on. Huang Shigong was very satisfied with Zhang Liang's kindness and humility, so he taught Zhang Liang the art of war and strategy, which helped him become an outstanding strategist.
Taishang Laojun's second incarnation is the Duke of Heshang. At that time, Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty was deeply interested in the Tao Te Ching, and in order to better comprehend the wisdom of Taoism, Taishang Laojun incarnated as the Duke of Heshang. The Duke of Heshang presented Emperor Wen of Han with a copy of "Lao Tzu's Moral Chapters", which deeply influenced Emperor Wen of Han's concept of governing the country and made him more aware of how to govern the world with Taoism.
For the last time, Taishang Laojun incarnated as Guangchengzi. During the reign of the Yellow Emperor, Guangchengzi lived in seclusion in the fairy cave of Kongtong Mountain. When the Yellow Emperor heard of his name, he made a special trip to visit him and asked him for advice on the way to govern the country and the method of immortality. Guang Chengzi happily taught and guided the Yellow Emperor to embark on the road to becoming an immortal. It is said that the Yellow Emperor was enlightened by Guangchengzi and eventually ascended to immortality.
These three stories have been passed down through the ages, showing the compassion and wisdom of Taishang Laojun. He lit up three important people in different incarnations, which had a profound impact on their lives. These stories also teach us that kindness, humility, and the pursuit of wisdom are the keys to success and sublimation. Whether in ancient times or in modern times, the wisdom of Taoism has always illuminated people's path forward.
