Walking into the construction site of the artificial ecological wetland construction project of the sewage treatment plant in Jingtai County, plants such as reeds, calamus, and shallots dress up the entire undercurrent and surface flow wetlands lush and vibrant. At present, the main body of the project has completed the infrastructure construction and entered the stage of water inlet commissioning.
Chen Zhenglin, project constructor: We entered the preliminary construction preparation stage of the project in August 2023, and began to carry out foundation treatment in September, including the reinforced concrete construction of the pond canal, the seepage prevention treatment of the surface flow area, and the backfilling and leveling of the planting soil, and completed 80% of the total project volume by the end of December. From March to the end of May 2024, the filter material backfill, anti-seepage treatment, planting soil leveling and backfilling, green planting in the underflow area, and green planting in the surface flow area will be carried out, and 97% of the total project volume has been completed so far.
It is understood that the artificial ecological wetland project makes full use of the favorable conditions of the natural environment, and effectively degrades and transforms the pollutants in the water through the comprehensive effects of bottom sedimentation and surface adsorption, which plays a key role in the deep purification of tail water and the reduction of pollutant concentration.
Gansu Changtai Construction Co., Ltd. project site leader Luo Yifeng: The construction process of this project is from the tail water of the sewage plant to the water distribution well, and the first-class undercurrent area is introduced through the sewage pipeline, and the backfill, volcanic rock, pebbles, and beans in the first-class undercurrent area are filtered and discharged into the wetland of the surface flow area, and the aquatic plants such as yellow calamus, reeds, and shallots are filtered for secondary filtration.
The constructed wetland construction project of Jingtai County Urban Sewage Treatment Plant adopts the combined process of "horizontal underflow constructed wetland + surface flow constructed wetland", planting 42,859.5 square meters of aquatic plants, stably reducing chemical oxygen demand, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus and other pollutants in the external drainage of the sewage treatment plant, so that the concentration of pollutants flowing into the main stream of the Yellow River is greatly reduced.
Duan Haoliang, Deputy Director of Jingtai Branch of Baiyin Ecological Environment Bureau: After the completion of the project, the tailwater can be deeply evolved through the constructed wetland, reduce the concentration of pollutants, thereby reducing the impact on the water quality of the main stream of the Yellow River, and play a positive role in promoting the prevention and control of regional water environment pollution, improving the restoration and maintenance of the Jingtai section of the Yellow River Basin and the ecology of the basin.
