5 things I learned from using the GAC Aion Hyper GT
During my recent trip to the Middle East, I had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the GAC Aion Hyper GT, which is priced between 203,900 yuan and 239,900 yuan ($28,075-32,206) in China, positioning itself to compete with the Tesla Model 3.
The GAC Group entered the North American market by holding a new car launch event in Mexico last November. The company is aggressively expanding overseas, including manufacturing plants in emerging countries.
The GAC Aion Hyper GT is an important example of GAC Group's global footprint, and here are my top five takeaways from my experience with this electric sedan.
Extensive product range and outstanding performance

A rear-wheel drive system comes standard with 250 kW (335 hp) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.9 seconds. The 80 kWh battery pack provides 710 km of CLTC range, and the 800V system provides 450 km (280 miles) of range in 15 minutes at a UHV 3C Supercharger.
Design and styling with an emphasis on aerodynamics
The GAC Aion Hyper GT has a streamlined exterior design with deployable front and rear aerodynamic parts, all of which make it one of the most aerodynamic cars in the world.
I found that its highlight was the frameless "Sky Gate", which opens upwards to provide a dramatic entrance for front passengers. In the Global model, optional 19-inch star-shaped sports wheels add a unique feel to the vehicle's extensive. In addition, Hyper Orange and Turquoise Blue brake calipers are available for customization, adding an extra sparkle to the kit.
Some of the exterior features I noticed in the Aion Hyper GT are both practical and stylish, including automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, front windshield acoustic glass, power-concealed door handles, power mirrors with folding, heating, and memory functions, and a "wind blade" grille and rear spoiler that open at high speeds to reduce drag.
Premium and feature-rich interiors
In terms of interior, the GAC Aion Hyper GT Global Edition offers new interior colors such as afternoon macchiato and elegant orange brown, with the biggest highlights including an 8.8-inch high-definition full LCD instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch 2.5K high-definition touch screen, a 23-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system, a 60W Type-C mobile phone charger for the front and rear rows, a 50W wireless mobile phone charger, a digital key, WiFi, etc.
Seats are available with exclusive Nappa leather upholstery, front seats with a 10-point massage function, and rear seats can be heated for extra comfort.
Fast and responsive screen
The GAC Aion Hyper GT's infotainment system is responsive, and the 710 UHV LiDAR and 710 UHV models are equipped with a 14.6-inch 2.5K HD touchscreen with Apple CarPlay support to ensure seamless connectivity.
尖端 ADAS
The highlight of the GAC Aion Hyper GT is its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The mapless Hyper Pilot ADAS kit is supported by up to 34 smart sensors that provide a comprehensive view of your surroundings. Different trims offer different levels of sensor arrays and features. The 710 UHV Smart Driving Edition includes a millimeter-wave radar sensor, a driving camera, and an ultrasonic radar sensor.
The 710 UHV LiDAR Edition adds more sensors, including a LiDAR sensor, while the high-end 710 UHV Advanced Intelligent Driving 3L Edition boasts additional LiDAR sensors, night vision cameras, and a dozen ultrasonic radars. These features enable advanced ADAS features such as home and remote parking assistance to make driving safer and more convenient.
