On December 10, 1944, a certain company of the third command post of the No. 8 Detachment of the Jinsui Eighth Division, stationed near Gaobai Town (now part of Dongyu Town, Qingxu County), discovered that a plane painted with the American flag had fallen into the nearby field. "Rescue the pilot immediately!" The company commander gave an order, and the company ran and set off. They knew that if the Japanese arrived early, everything would have been in vain.

After a forced march of 8 miles, the troops finally discovered the scene of the plane's forced landing near Wangmingzhai Village (now Jiaocheng County) in the Fourth District of the Qing Dynasty, and it turned out that the plane had run out of fuel. However, the pilot was gone, and after searching, he finally met two American pilots in the area of Wujiapo (now Dongyu Town, Qingxu County), which led to the mountainous area. When they learned that the unit was the Eighth Route Army, the US pilots were overjoyed. The company hurriedly escorted the two pilots to transfer and safely sent them to the rest house of the 8th Sub-district of Jinsui (located in Nantou Village, Chang'an Township, Gujiao City). Just one hour after the troops escorted the pilots away, a large number of Japanese troops rushed to the scene of the plane's forced landing, but all they saw was an empty and unmanned plane.
