On July 1, the "Flag Raising Ceremony for the Education Sector to Celebrate the 27th Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return to the Motherland" was held at the Patriotic Education Support Centre in Sha Tin District, sponsored by the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers and the Patriotic Education Support Centre, co-organised by the Hong Kong Flag Raising Corps Association, the Hong Kong Institute of Education for Sustainable Development, and co-organised by the Sha Tin District Office.

Nandu and N video reporters learned at the event that Cai Ruolian, Secretary for Education of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Liang Hongzheng, Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Chen Zhilu, Deputy Director of the Education and Science Department of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong, Huang Jinliang, Hong Kong Deputy to the National People's Congress and Chairman of the Education Federation, Kwong Meiyun, Hong Kong National People's Congress, and other guests attended the event.

According to the organizers, this year marks the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, and in the new era of "governing and prospering", Hong Kong has taken advantage of its unique position and advantages of being backed by the motherland and connected to the world to sustain stability and prosperity. The Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers, one of the organizers, pointed out that education can cultivate new talents to serve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, which is of great significance to the development of Hong Kong and the country.

In her speech, the Secretary for Education of the HKSAR Government, Ms Choi Yuk-lin, said that Hong Kong's further development is inseparable from nurturing talents with international vision and patriotic feelings to contribute to the country and build Hong Kong. The Hong Kong SAR Government attaches great importance to patriotic education and has done a great deal of work to help students establish mainstream values that are compatible with "one country, two systems". At the same time, it actively supports Hong Kong students to participate in Mainland exchange programmes and experience the country's development achievements from multiple perspectives.

Wong Kam-leung, a Hong Kong deputy to the National People's Congress and chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers, said in his speech that the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers is committed to cultivating patriotic education for Hong Kong students, so that students can fully understand the national situation and enhance their national identity. In his speech, Wong Kam-leung revealed that Hong Kong's Patriotic Education Support Centre will build the first aerospace science popularization base in Hong Kong, so that students can have a more comprehensive understanding of the development of aerospace science and technology in the motherland.
