Maserati, through its Fuoriserie bespoke program, has created a special all-electric Gran Cabrio Folgore, a model with a design inspired by wine. It may seem ironic to combine a car with alcohol, since drunk driving is illegal, but Maserati has cleverly created a unique colour palette with this design that gives this car a distinctive charm.
This one-of-a-kind model is named "Tignanello" and is inspired by a variety of red wine. Maserati not only demonstrates its bespoke savoir-faire with this model, but also plans to use it for charity. It has been revealed that this one-of-a-kind GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello model will be auctioned in California, with proceeds going to charity.
Created through the Fuoriserie Bespoke Program, the all-electric vehicle was created in collaboration with the Italian wine producer Marchesi Antinori to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tignanello wines. Tignanello is special because it was the first to be aged in Bordeaux barriques, the first modern red wine to incorporate unconventional grape varieties, and one of the first Chianti Classico red wines to be made without white grapes.
The electric car comes in a custom-made maroon paint call "Terra di Tignanello" ("Land of Tignanello"). This color blends the burgundy of copper with a metallic sheen to create a unique and elegant atmosphere. Maserati's Fuoriserie customization department combines this particular colour with black alloy wheels and brake calipers to further accentuate the vehicle's sense of dynamism and power. At the same time, the black soft top design also adds a touch of mystery and elegance to this convertible.
The seats are uniquely treated and the leather upholstery is "decorated with silver and burgundy weaves in a variety of materials", a design inspired by the rows of vines on the slopes of the Tignanello vineyards. The seat part is made of a special material called "Vegea", which is said to "look and feel like leather", but it actually comes from vineyards.
Both the doors and the center console are decorated with dark briar with laser lettering reminiscent of printed lettering on oak barrels. The headrest is embroidered with the trident logo, the design of which is inspired by the sun, which is also an iconic element of Tignanello wines and is often seen on wine bottles. On the center console, in addition to the Trident logo, the inscription "1971-2021" is engraved, which represents the starting and current vintages of Tignanello wines.
The powertrain of the GranCabrio Folgore remains unchanged, with three electric motors producing a total of 818 hp (829 PS) and 1,350 Nm of torque, allowing the cabriolet to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The battery pack has a capacity of 92.5 kWh and has a range of about 375 km on a single charge.
This one-of-a-kind Maserati GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello special edition model will be auctioned on July 14 at a charity auction in Napa Valley, California. All proceeds from the auction of this special edition wine-themed model will be donated to charity.
