Rene Magritte
René Magritte (1898-1967) was the most prominent Belgian surrealist painter of the 20th century. Born in Lycyne. After studying at the Brussels Academy of Arts, he began to explore surrealist painting. In 1927, he moved to Paris, where he entered a period of creative flourishing. His works often give a new meaning to familiar objects, or twist and combine unrelated things together, giving people a sense of absurdity and humor. He was born on November 21, 1898 in Lessines, Belgium. He died in Brussels in 1967 at the age of 69. There is no greater achievement in the history of art than the creation of Surrealism, the first surrealist painter of his time.

My paintings are visible images, behind which there are unknowns and mysteries,
But it's imaginative, and indeed, when someone sees my paintings,
He will ask himself a simple question,
What does that mean exactly?
But it's nothing.
Because the mystery of chaos is impossible to know.
—Magritte
