Writer Zhang Hongjie said: If you don't read Chinese history, you don't know the greatness of China.
Among the Chinese documentaries, there is such a largest-scale historical feature film to date: "General History of China".
It is 100 episodes of 45 minutes each, vividly telling the vast historical picture from the origin of Chinese civilization to 1911.
In this long and tortuous history, the cycle of dynastic changes, and the repeated stories of human nature, like a reincarnation, are still playing out to this day.
Tang Taizong once said: With history as a mirror, you can know the rise and fall; With people as a mirror, you can see the gains and losses.
If you don't know anything about human nature, be sure to check out this documentary.
If you understand it, you will understand that the stupidity and ignorance in human nature have been in an infinite loop.
The mistakes made by the ancients are still repeated by us today, but we don't know it.

- After watching Xia Wei's fate, I understand: ignorance is a common disease of human beings.
Xia Wei was the last emperor of the Xia Dynasty.
The record of him in the history books is: debauchery, tyranny and unreasonable, the princes do not court, a few years later, the guest died in Nanchao, and his nickname is Ji.
He is a famous faint king in history, not only living an arrogant and lascivious life, but also often provoking wars and crusading against surrounding tribes.
Therefore, the demise of the Xia Dynasty in his hands was inevitable.
And what directly led to the demise of the Xia Dynasty was Xia Wei's stupidity.
In the documentary, it is said that during the reign of Xia Wei, there was a tribe called Shang that rose very quickly.
Seeing this, the ministers below spoke one after another, taking advantage of the fledgling of Shang and hurried to take measures to curb them.
Xia Wei also obeyed their wishes at that time, and summoned Shang Tang, the leader of Shang, to his capital and imprisoned him.
Originally, according to this development, as long as Xia Wei imprisoned Shang Tang to death, or secretly executed him, he could never suffer from future troubles.
But at this time, Xia Wei began to be stupid.
At that time, there was a minister named Yi Yin on the Shang side, who was very smart.
He knew that Xia Wei was stupid and lustful, so he collected many treasures and beauties and offered them to Xia Wei, asking for the release of the soup.
As for Xia Wei, when he saw so many beautiful treasures, he was immediately moved.
Thinking of Shang Tang's loyalty during his captivity, he felt that the other party could not threaten him, so he let Shang Tang go.
As a result, when he let go, he returned to the mountain.
After Shang Tang escaped death, he quickly organized many tribes who were dissatisfied with Xia Wei to unite against Xia.
Soon after, in the Battle of Naruto, the Xia army was defeated, Xia Wei was also captured, and the Xia Dynasty perished.
When Xia Wei is mentioned, the world will scold him for his tyranny and laugh at his stupidity, but who hasn't repeated his mistakes?
For example, in the face of benefits, who can always soberly adhere to principles and not be careless;
When the power is in hand, how many people can be strict with themselves and not let themselves be lost.
Russell once said, "It is a common human disease to have all kinds of foolish insights."
Everyone has a stupid side, and there will be times when they lose their minds and lose themselves.
What we can do is to face it squarely, and then be cautious and correct ourselves.
In this way, every loss in life will become the best opportunity for us to self-examine and improve.

- After watching Xiang Yu's ending, he woke up: the short-sightedness of the world has never changed.
Everyone in the world thought that Xiang Yu was defeated by Liu Bang.
But after reading "General History of China", you will find that Xiang Yu was not defeated by Liu Bang, but by his own short-sightedness.
Why?
According to the documentary, in 206 BC, Liu Bang and Xiang Yu entered Guanzhong.
After entering the customs, Xiang Yu pretended to be the king of Chu Huai, established himself as the overlord of Western Chu, and divided the princes of the eighteen roads, and respected King Chu Huai as the "righteous emperor".
Originally, Xiang Yu, who had a strong army, could easily coerce King Chu Huai to order the princes.
But he understood how dissatisfied King Chu Huai was with him, and when he saw that the other party had lost its usefulness, he killed him.
His act of killing the emperor instantly caused people all over the world to gnash their teeth, and at the same time provided an excellent excuse for Liu Bang to raise troops.
Liu Bang took this opportunity to send troops in the name of crusading against the "traitors", and he occupied the moral high ground and gained a steady stream of support.
In the following year or so, Xiang Yu's army suffered repeated setbacks, and in the Battle of Xiaxia, Xiang Yu's army was defeated and trapped in Yinling.
At this time, as long as he crosses the Wujiang River and returns to Jiangdong, he can still have a chance to make a comeback.
But he felt that the general trend had gone, and roared at the heavens: I am trapped here today, not because I can't fight, but because the sky is going to kill me.
Anyway, kill yourself and die.
In the end, Xiang Yu paid the price for his short-sightedness with his life.
And in real life, people with Xiang Yu's weakness abound.
They are like frogs at the bottom of a well, living only in their own world, unable to see the power of others, nor can they see their own limitations.
Therefore, in the end, it is also themselves who have to bear the bitter consequences of short-sightedness.
There is a saying: If you don't plan deeply, you can't go far.
Instead of walking alone in their own world, they are rigid and self-serving, and the road of life is getting narrower and narrower.
It is better to be more thoughtful before acting, take one step, look at ten steps, and think about a hundred steps, so that you will be able to go steadily and far in the future.

- After watching the tragedy of Tang Xuanzong, I realized that the disasters caused by complacency are still being staged in turn today.
In the "Zhiyan", the world was warned like this: If you are exalted, you will be dangerous, and if you are complacent, you will overflow.
But how many people in this world really listen to this?
Especially for a feudal king whose power is not fettered, he is afraid that he is even more reluctant to listen to this kind of lesson.
According to the "General History of China", in 712 AD, Tang Xuanzong Li Longji ascended the throne.
In the early days of his reign, he also made up his mind to "change the government of Zhongzong and look at the story according to Zhenguan" to continue to push the Li dynasty to strength.
Therefore, he appointed talented people, rectified the administration of officials, reformed finances, and carried out all-round reforms in politics, economy, military, culture, and other fields.
Thirty years later, the development of the Tang Empire thus entered its heyday.
In the face of great achievements, Tang Xuanzong, the emperor who made great contributions, began to stand on his own merits and be proud of his achievements, immersed in the dream of prosperity.
He no longer pays attention to the trade-offs of employing people, but reuses some villains who have no ability and can only flatter, such as Li Linfu and Yang Guozhong;
He couldn't tolerate a word of criticism from the minister, and once supervised the imperial history Zhou Ziliang wrote to Xuanzong and advised him not to reward and punish him arbitrarily, but he was almost beaten to death by the club in His Royal Highness.
He also ignored the opposition of his ministers and insisted on appointing his daughter-in-law Yang Yuhuan as a concubine, just to satisfy his desire for pleasure.
At that time, Tang Xuanzong didn't expect that his absurd behavior would cause an unprecedented disaster for himself and the Tang Dynasty.
In 756 AD, An Lushan saw that the upper echelons of the Tang Dynasty were extremely corrupt and brazenly launched a rebellion.
The Tang Dynasty army, which had been immersed in pleasure for many years, had no resistance in the face of the rebels, and Tang Xuanzong had to flee in a hurry.
Although the war ended with the victory of the Tang Dynasty, after eight years of war, the Tang Dynasty was overwhelmed.
It could no longer regain its former glory, and eventually turned from prosperity to decline and went to extinction.
And Tang Xuanzong himself, after this chaos, no longer had the same eloquence as before, and died in pain and depression soon after.
Lao Tzu once said: Rich and arrogant, self-blame.
A thousand years ago, Tang Xuanzong did not understand this sentence, which led to the later tragedy.
And thousands of years later, even if they are familiar with the story of Tang Xuanzong, they are still repeating the mistakes of the past.
Many people have achieved something, but they will still become complacent, and no one will look at it.
But when he becomes complacent and arrogant, what awaits him will also be a fatal blow.
Therefore, no matter how great one's ability is or how high one's status is, one must not be arrogant and blinded by arrogance.

- After watching Zhu Qizhen's failure, I understood: The blindness and ignorance in people's bones still exist.
In the history of the Ming Dynasty, there was such a battle that shocked the government and the opposition - the Battle of Tumubao.
It tore apart the frontier of the Ming Dynasty, devoured the lives of countless civil ministers and military generals, and killed 250,000 Ming troops on the battlefield.
Since this war, the Ming Dynasty, which has been founded for more than 100 years, has experienced the greatest imperial crisis.
And the commanders of this battle were Ming Yingzong Zhu Qizhen and eunuch Wang Zhen.
After the rapid rise of the Mongolia Wara tribe in the northern steppes in 1449, they began to create friction in the border areas.
In the face of such news, Wang Zhen, the eunuch in power, was not worried but happy.
Because he has been waiting for such an opportunity to prove his ability, so that he can gain the respect of the ministers of civil and military affairs.
So, he continued to instigate Ming Yingzong to drive the expedition in person.
And Ming Yingzong has always hoped to be like his great-grandfather Emperor Yongle, personally led the six armies, expeditioned to the desert, made meritorious achievements, and went down in history.
In this way, on the issue of going on the expedition, the two hit it off.
A decision to go on an expedition involving the fate and safety of the empire, without consulting the opinions of hundreds of officials, the two patted their heads and made a decision.
However, the two of them knew almost nothing about Warat and their own strength.
The results are certainly predictable:
Wang Zhen died, Yingzong was captured, and the more than 200,000 elite troops they brought with them suffered heavy losses, and the Ming Dynasty regime almost collapsed.
How much of a mistake can one person's ignorance make?
This history of the Ming Dynasty is a bloody lesson.
So, every option has a price, but don't try the price of ignorance, it will be miserable.
Despite this, in reality, there are still people who go forward and succeed each other, and use ignorance to write tragedies for their lives.
When it comes to the choices that determine the fate of life, they don't know how to pretend to understand; They are blindly confident in things they are not sure of.
Such an ignorant person will one day bring great calamity upon himself.
If you want to avoid such a tragedy in life, you must read more, meet more people, see the world more, and use your knowledge to break the wall of ignorance.
As you know more and more, your heart will become more and more grounded.
At that point, you will be able to take control of your life even in the midst of difficulties.

It has been said, "All history is contemporary." ”
If you can't see the present clearly, just look at history, history has happened;
If you can't see the future, look at the present, because history is repeating itself over and over again.
From the perspective of human nature, history is nothing but a cycle, and we are all repeating the mistakes of the past.
Ignorance, hypocrisy, blindness, arrogance, these weaknesses in human nature, we all have them.
If you don't want to repeat the tragedy of your predecessors, you must learn to use history as a mirror to face and correct your own shortcomings.
One day, we will end the cycle and rewrite the outcome of our lives for ourselves in the process of constantly reinventing ourselves.
Give it a thumbs up and encourage your friends.
