On July 30, Li Auto released the latest weekly sales list for the 30th week of 2024 (July 22 to July 28) as scheduled, which still includes three parts: the sales list of new energy brands in the Chinese market, the sales list of new power brands in the Chinese market, and the sales list of Chinese luxury brands.
Let's take a look at the TOP10 sales list of new energy brands in the Chinese market, and the top five car companies are BYD, Tesla, Li Auto, Wenjie and Wuling. In the new week, BYD continued to top the list with weekly sales of 70,600 units, which is the only brand on the list that has sold more than 70,000 units, and it is also the first time that BYD's weekly sales have exceeded 70,000 units in July. By comparison, sales in the 27th week (July 1 to July 7) were 58,800 units, the 28th week (July 8 to July 14) was 61,800 units, and the 29th week (July 15 to July 21) was 66,700 units. According to statistics, as of the 28th, BYD's cumulative sales in July were 257,900 units.
Tesla, which is behind BYD, sold 13,500 units in the new week, an improvement from the previous week (July 15 to July 21). Li Auto and Wenjie ranked third and fourth on the list, respectively, with weekly sales of 12,800 and 10,500 units, respectively. Wuling Motors also squeezed into the top five on the list, with weekly sales of 9,900 units.
The top 10 brands on the list also include Aion Automobile, NIO, Leapmotor, Volkswagen, and Xiaomi Auto, with weekly sales of 7,200 units, 5,400 units, 4,700 units, 4,300 units, and 3,900 units, respectively.
Among them, Xiaomi Auto re-entered the list in the new week, ranking tenth, which is also the second time that Xiaomi Auto has entered the TOP10 sales list of new energy brands in July. Previously, (July 1 to July 7) on the weekly list, Xiaomi Auto ranked tenth on the list with sales of 3,700 units, and missed the list in the next two weeks, with weekly sales of 2,300 and 1,500 respectively. As of the 28th, Xiaomi Auto's cumulative sales in July were 11,400 units, completing the target of delivering 10,000 units in July ahead of schedule. On July 19, at the 2024 Lei Jun annual speech meeting, Lei Jun reported on the new progress of Xiaomi Auto, and Lei Jun said that he would complete the 100,000 delivery target ahead of schedule in November this year. According to the plan, the sales target of Xiaomi Auto during the year is to deliver 100,000 units and challenge 120,000 units.
Next, let's take a look at the TOP10 sales list of new power brands in the Chinese market, Li Auto is still the top seller of new power brands in the Chinese market, with weekly sales of 12,800 units, higher than the 10,500 units in the world. This is also the fourth weekly sales volume of Li Auto this month, ranking first in the sales list of new forces. According to statistics, from July 1 to 28, the cumulative sales of Li Auto were 43,000 units, and the cumulative sales volume of Wenjie was 37,100 units, with a difference of 5,900 units.
NIO ranked third on the list with weekly sales of 5,400 units, while Xpeng ranked eighth with sales of 2,400 units. In the past, Li Auto, NIO and Xpeng Motors were often compared to each other, but from 2023 onwards, the sales pattern of the three will begin to diverge, especially Li Auto. For reference, the sales of the three in 2023 will be 376,000 units, 160,000 units, and 141,600 units, respectively. And since 2024, this pattern has not improved. In the first half of this year, Li Auto sold 189,000 units, NIO sold 87,400 units, and Xpeng Motors sold 52,000 units.
It is worth mentioning that the release of the weekly sales list has also aroused the dissatisfaction of friends. On July 27, in the interactive session after the end of NIO IN, Li Bin, founder, chairman and CEO of NIO, said that he could not bear the weekly sales list of his friends, and revealed that the release of the weekly list had intensified the anxiety of the industry. In addition, Qin Lihong, co-founder and president of NIO, also pointed out that the data of the weekly list is not rigorous, and NIO has never authorized any institution to bring NIO's weekly list, and the data has not been recognized by NIO, calling on relevant departments to manage it.
Today, Li Auto released the weekly list as scheduled, and in this regard, Ma Lin, the public relations director of Weilai Automobile, posted three Weibo posts in a row to shout Li Xiang, CEO of Li Auto, to "stop". Ma Lin said: "Don't engage in low-level involution, the weekly list is more or less a bit of a low-level involution. The mission of Chinese automakers today is to achieve technological breakthroughs through R&D." He also pointed out that the weekly list interferes with the normal operation of enterprises, and believes that each company will announce the audited delivery volume every month, and this monthly figure can basically reflect the business situation of car companies at that time, which is more effective for users to understand the market situation and help consumption decisions.
At the same time, Ma Lin also pointed out: "Huawei and Ideal are currently selling well in the field of extended range, which is very good." NIO and Tesla are selling well in the pure electric field. However, products of different price points, different categories with or without fuel tanks, are put into a list, which cannot reflect the objective situation of the market. And emphasized: "To make a list, it must be reasonable and comparable with each other."
Returning to the sales volume of the list, the top five on the list also include Leapmotor and Xiaomi Auto, with sales of 4,700 and 3,900 respectively in the new week. In addition, including ZEEKR Automobile, Deep Blue Automobile, Denza Auto and Jihu Automobile, all entered the top 10 on the list, with weekly sales of 3,300 units, 2,800 units, 2,200 units and 1,500 units respectively, while Zhiji Auto has fallen out of the list.
Finally, let's take a look at the TOP10 sales list of China's luxury brands, from the list of brand rankings, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW continue to maintain the top three, among them, Mercedes-Benz's weekly sales were 17,000 units, compared with 13,600 units in the previous week (July 15 to July 21), and the latter two weekly sales were 13,900 and 13,800 respectively. Tesla ranked fourth on the list with 13,500 units, followed by Li Auto and Wenjie. In addition to the above brands, including NIO, Lexus, Zeekr and Volvo all entered the top 10, with weekly sales of 5,400 units, 3,700 units, 3,300 units and 2,600 units respectively.
As the time enters the second half of the year, whether it is a new energy brand in the Chinese market, a new brand sales in the Chinese market or a luxury brand in China, the current competition between brands is still very fierce.
