Huawei's layout on HarmonyOS and mobile phones has appeared as a game-breaker.

From September 19 to 21, HUAWEI CONNECT 2024 kicked off in Shanghai, China. At HUAWEI CONNECT Conference, Zhu Yonggang, President of Huawei Device Cloud, announced that more than 10,000 apps and meta-services have been launched on the HarmonyOS NEXT app marketplace, which can meet 99.9% of consumers' usage time, and the number of registered developers has increased to 6.75 million, marking the comprehensive maturity and accelerated development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem.

Zhu Yonggang said that Huawei invests more than 6 billion yuan every year to support and encourage innovation for HarmonyOS developers.

What has attracted more attention from the public is that on September 20, Huawei's triple folding screen mobile phone Mate XT Extraordinary Master was officially put on sale.

In the three days since it went on sale, the Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master has been sold out immediately after the launch. On September 22, at the Huawei store in Wuhan MixC City, a reporter from the Yangtze River Business Daily saw an endless stream of customers who came to consult the mobile phone. The store sales staff said that the phone is currently available for pre-order, but it is uncertain when you will be able to get the phone.

IDC data shows that in the first half of 2024, Huawei's share of China's folding screen mobile phone market will reach 42.7%, ranking first in the market.

On September 20, Huawei's Executive Director, Chairman of the Device BG, and Chairman of the Intelligent Vehicle Solution BU? Yu Chengdong said that the hot sales of Huawei's three-fold screen mobile phones have far exceeded expectations, and the team is working overtime to expand production capacity.

The number of registered developers in HarmonyOS increased to 6.75 million

From September 19 to 21, HUAWEI CONNECT 2024 kicked off in Shanghai, China.

It is understood that with the theme of "win-win industry intelligence", this conference invites thought leaders, business elites, technical experts, partners, developers and other industry colleagues to discuss how to empower thousands of industries through intelligent and digital technology, grasp new opportunities and win-win intelligent future from the aspects of strategy, industry and ecology.

On September 19, Xu Zhijun, Vice Chairman and Rotating Chairman of Huawei, delivered a speech titled "Embracing the Era of Comprehensive Intelligence" at HUAWEI CONNECT 2024.

Xu Zhijun said that the continuous progress of AI technology is promoting the continuous deepening of intelligence in all walks of life and moving towards comprehensive intelligence. However, not every enterprise needs to build large-scale AI computing power and train its own basic large model, and not all applications need to pursue "large models".

On September 21, Zhu Yonggang announced at HUAWEI CONNECT 2024 that more than 10,000 apps and meta-services have been launched on the HarmonyOS NEXT app marketplace, which can meet 99.9% of consumers' usage time, and the number of registered developers has increased to 6.75 million, marking the full maturity and accelerated development of the HarmonyOS ecosystem. Huawei invests more than 6 billion yuan every year to support and incentivize innovation among HarmonyOS developers.

Looking back on history, in 2012, Huawei began to plan to develop its own operating system.

On August 9, 2019, Huawei HarmonyOS 1.0 was officially released. In the following years, the HarmonyOS system was updated with several major versions of HarmonyOS 2.0, HarmonyOS 3.0, and HarmonyOS 4.0.

In the second half of 2023, Huawei's HarmonyOS system will begin to shift to the software ecosystem, focusing on expanding HarmonyOS native applications.

On August 4, 2023, Huawei launched the Harmony OS NEXT developer preview.

On January 18, 2024, HarmonyOS NEXT Galaxy Edition will be available for application by developers. Huawei's HarmonyOS native application landscape has taken shape, and enterprises and developers in various fields including but not limited to navigation, news, tools, travel, finance, convenient life, food, and games have announced that they have joined the HarmonyOS ecosystem.

"From the first release of Hongmeng to today, after 1778 days, in these 5 years, we have been together with the majority of partner developers and consumers, working together, crossing mountains and seas, and finally ushered in the Hongmeng ecological 'light boat has crossed ten thousand mountains'." At the Huawei Developer Conference 2024 held on June 21, Yu Chengdong said.

At the press conference, Yu Chengdong announced that Harmony OS NEXT will launch a beta version for developers, which is also known as "pure-blooded Hongmeng", which is based on the Hongmeng kernel and is no longer compatible with APP applications developed by Android.

Recently, it has been reported that Huawei will release its completely self-developed "pure-blooded Hongmeng" system Harmony OS NEXT at the end of September, which emphasizes native security and intelligent features.

Three-fold screen mobile phone "second light"

In addition to HarmonyOS, Huawei's recent focus is on its triple folding screen phones.

On September 10th, Huawei's first triple folding screen mobile phone, Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master, was officially announced, with the price of the 256GB version being 19999 yuan, the 512GB version being priced at 21999 yuan, and the 1TB version being priced at 23999 yuan.

As the first mass-produced triple-fold screen mobile phone, the Huawei Mate XT has received continuous attention since its official announcement. The mobile phone opened for pre-order on September 7, and at 23:59 on September 19, Huawei Mall showed that the Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master reservation ended, with more than 6.85 million people making reservations.

On September 20th, Huawei's triple folding mobile phone Mate XT Extraordinary Master officially went on sale, and the same user is limited to one purchase. According to reports, on the day of the sale, many consumers went to the store to queue up to buy machines, and many consumers also chose to place orders from major e-commerce platforms.

At 10:08 a.m. on September 21, the Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master, a three-fold screen mobile phone that went on sale for the second time, reappeared in "seconds".

Subsequently, a reporter from the Yangtze River Business Daily found that in the Huawei Mall, the purchase button of the Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master was updated to "September 22nd at 10:08", which will be on sale for the third time in a row.

On September 22, a reporter from the Yangtze River Business Daily found that on major e-commerce platforms, Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master is still "seconds". Many netizens on social media platforms also called out, "too hot" and "can't grab it".

Not only that, the model was quickly sold out on major e-commerce platforms, and online platforms such as JD.com and Tmall flagship stores were "temporarily out of stock". According to reports, the recycling price of Huawei Mate XT is now more than 40,000 yuan.

On September 20, Yu Chengdong appeared at the flagship store on Jingdong Road in Hainan Province to attend the first batch of delivery ceremonies of Huawei Mate XT Extraordinary Master. Yu Chengdong said at the delivery ceremony that Huawei's triple folding screen mobile phones are selling far more than expected, and the team is working overtime to expand production capacity.

According to data from market research institute CINNO Research, the cumulative sales of folding screen mobile phones in the Chinese market in the first half of 2024 will reach 4.98 million units, a year-on-year increase of 121%, and the penetration rate will be 3.6%.

IDC data shows that in the first half of 2024, Huawei will still be the No. 1 brand in China's folding screen mobile phone market, with a market share of 42.7%.

Recently, the latest mobile phone quarterly forecast report released by IDC shows that it is expected that China's folding screen mobile phone market will ship about 10.68 million units in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 52.4%; By 2028, China's folding screen mobile phone shipments will exceed 17 million units, with a five-year compound growth rate of 19.8%.

Judging from the pre-sale of Huawei Mate XT, after Huawei works overtime to expand production capacity, the company can single-handedly increase China's folding screen mobile phone shipments to more than 10 million units in 2024.

IDC pointed out that the active investment and layout of Chinese manufacturers in folding screen mobile phones has made China the world's largest folding screen mobile phone market. It is expected that China's folding screen mobile phone market will occupy about 40% of the global market share for a long time in the future.
