The prestigious Monaco Yacht Show is the perfect venue for yacht manufacturers around the world to showcase their latest and most innovative projects. Netherlands shipyard Oceanco took center stage at this year's event with a new design based on its Simply Custom platform. The new project, titled "Volare", is a fully custom concept superyacht designed by Luiz de Basto of Miami-based studio De Basto Designs.
As one of the world's top superyacht builders and industry pioneers, Oceanco aims to create some of the most advanced and inspiring yachts for the most discerning owners. The company is known for providing a highly personalized service to its customers, and the Simple Bespoke Collection, originally announced at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2023, was born out of the shipyard's desire to provide aspiring yacht owners with a simplified, more streamlined approach to yacht design and shorter build times.
With a simple customization program, Oceanco essentially provides designers with a proven boat platform on which they can build unique yachts with unlimited customization options. This approach has led to collaborations with renowned design studios around the world.
The "Volare" is the latest proposal for a simple custom collection from the same designers on the iconic 295-foot (90-meter) Oceanco superyacht "DAR", which was delivered in 2018.
"Volare", which means "flight" in Italy, is designed to meet the needs of modern yacht owners looking for the highest quality, the most luxurious facilities and the most memorable yachting experience. The boat is 285 feet (87 meters) long, but has a highly modular design, which means it can be extended up to 289 feet (88 meters) long, and one of the decks can be removed.
Designer Luiz de Basto said: "The contemporary design of the Volare is deeply rooted in our understanding of the changing needs of today's yacht owners. For these customers, impeccable quality and superior technology are a benchmark. In addition to this, they are also excited about unique designs that inspire emotion and art, unlike the generic aesthetics of the past. ”
The exterior design of this yacht is characterized by a sleek silhouette and smooth lines from bow to stern, which seems to draw inspiration from the idea of flying, hence the name. It combines dark and light glass to provide wind protection for guests on board, with the superstructure appearing to float above the hull, "reminiscent of the grace of an egret skimming across the water," de Basto said.
In terms of facilities, one of the most striking features of the Volare concept yacht is the top deck, which is adorned with a spectacular circular seating area arranged around a fire pit. Designed to socialize, this space invites guests to sit and relax while taking in the stunning sea views. Another highlight is a sizable swimming pool on the aft main deck with a unique waterfall feature.
De Basto also mentioned that the new yacht reconciles perfect design with precise engineering to provide the highest level of efficiency at sea, noting that "like nature's egrets, the Volare is designed with extreme efficiency and functionality without compromise." ”
