Brothers, the new public upgrade sports street bike CB1000 Hornet has been officially released by Honda since its debut last year, and this new car with a front face similar to the Z1000 and the heart (engine) of the fire blade is actually a "Wasp".
Z1000 similar front face?
As mentioned in previous reports, Honda's new CB1000 Hornet does not continue the styling design of the other two Wasps, and the front face of the new car has a feeling of Kawasaki Z1000. In short, the front face shape of Honda's new four-cylinder wasp has elements that are not its own, but everyone is familiar with it.
The fuel tank and tail of the CB1000 Hornet body are very Honda, these two parts are not very prominent, and the relatively straight tail may still get some goodwill, and the huge exhaust pipe on the side is not easy to say.
Old CBR1000R The "Heart" of the Fire Blade
The CB1000 Hornet is powered by the previous generation of Fireblade, CBR1000RR Fireblade's four-cylinder engine, but the power has been diminished to accommodate the new emissions requirements. It also features a redesigned six-speed gearbox, complemented by a slipper-clutch, two-way fast transmission.
The maximum power has been reduced from 141kW@13000rpm to 111.6kW (152PS) @11000rpm; The maximum torque is 104N·m@9000rpm. After the retuning, the new engine still performs well at high revvings, and the torque bursts earlier than before.
The new car has three preset modes of street, rainy day, and sport, as well as two custom modes, and the owner can adjust the power output, brake HSTC traction control, anti-warping and so on according to road conditions.
The frame and brakes of the new Wasp
Although the composition of the new CB1000 Hornet may seem a bit complicated, Honda has put a lot of effort into it.
Equipped with a new twin-spar tubular steel frame, suspended with a front 41mm Showa SFF-BP USD inverted fork + rear Showa Pro-Link multi-link shock. Combined with a tuned front and rear suspension system, the new frame has a balanced weight ratio of 51.2%/48.8% front and rear, which is said to provide a more stable handling feel.
The braking hardware has dual 310mm floating discs + Nissin radial four-piston calipers in the front and 240mm single discs in the rear.
In other aspects, there is a 5-inch TFT full-color meter, which can be connected to a mobile phone through the APP to control functions such as answering calls and navigation. The wheelbase is 1,455 mm, the tire specifications are 120/70-R17 in the front and 180/55-R17 in the rear, the seat height is 809 mm, the curb weight is 211 kg, the fuel tank capacity is 17 liters, and the fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is 5.9 liters.
CB1000 Hornet SP
The SP version of the model that has only recently been announced is the more powerful Wasp, with a maximum power and maximum torque of 115.6kW and 107Nm·m, respectively. The brakes were replaced with stronger Brembo Stylema radiant calipers, and the rear shock was upgraded to a fully adjustable Ohlins TTX.
Honda's new CB1000 Hornet is available in red, grey and white liveries, while the more powerful SP is available in a matte metallic black finish.
Although the power of the new Honda Wasp is a little lower than the original engine, from another point of view, it may not be all bad news, and if it is introduced into the country in the future, it is very likely that the power output will not be castrated and reduced.
Honda has finally launched a new public upgrade sports street bike, whether this is a new Wasp or a new "Anaconda", after all, it provides everyone with a Honda-style choice, what do you think of this CB1000 Hornet?
