The Chen Sheng Wuguang Uprising is recorded in history as the first peasant uprising in Chinese history. Last time, it was mentioned that Henan Shangshui was the birthplace of Chen Sheng, the leader of China's first peasant uprising at the end of the Qin Dynasty, and today I talk about Wu Guang's hometown, Taikang, Henan.
Both places now belong to the same City of Zhoukou, which is 100 kilometers apart. The name Taikang comes from The Xia King Taikang. In the summer, its territory belongs to the territory of Yuzhou, and in the early summer it belongs to The Land. Because the King of Xia, Taikang, moved the capital here, it was called Yangxia (jiǎ); after his death, he was buried here, so people also called Yangxia Taikang, and the name of Taikang County originated from this.
Today, there is a Taikang Mausoleum, a circular tomb, which was extremely tall and decadent in ancient times, and is now four meters high and 84 meters circumferential. In the 1984 cultural relics census, the Han Dynasty Jomon plate tiles, simple tiles and geometric pattern tomb tiles were collected on the surface of the mausoleum area and the tomb seal soil, which shows that this mausoleum is actually an ancient tomb of the Han Dynasty, not a tomb of Taikang.
During the Qin and Han dynasties, Yangxia (jiǎ) was a famous city in the Central Plains, a place where soldiers and families fought. During the Chu-Han war, Xiang Yu wanted Wang Ling's mother to persuade Wang Ling to join forces with Chu to attack Han in Yangxia, and Wang Ling's mother killed herself in Yangxia City in order to make her son submit to Liu Bang. After Liu Xiang confronted xiang, Liu Bang attacked Xiang Yu, defeated his troops, and retreated to Yangxia City, and later Xiang Yu attacked Yangxia.
The above is said to be Wu Guang's hometown, and there is indeed a pagoda called Xiao Wu Pagoda, also known as Wu Guang Pagoda, which is located in Xiao Wu Village, Xisun Mukou, the county seat. The tower is 14.8 meters high, a six-level brick tower with hexagonal solids, built in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the tower construction technology is more unique, belongs to the folk local method, and is rare in the tower architecture.
In addition to this Wuguang Pagoda, there is also a Shousheng Temple Pagoda, commonly known as Gaoxian Pagoda, located 23 kilometers northwest of the city. It is a Ming Dynasty architecture. The pagoda is decorated with a total of 211 stone statues and 14 stone pillars, which has certain value for the study of Ming Dynasty painting and carving art.
The most famous ancient building in Taikang County is the Temple of Literature, also known as Huangxue, which has high cultural and architectural value. The most worth mentioning is that the three-dimensional carved peony, dragon and other ornaments above the door of the Dacheng Hall are very rare carved treasures in China.
Historically, Taikang has produced many celebrities. Huang Ba, the Western Han Dynasty minister, Xie An, the Eastern Jin Dynasty Taifu Xie'an, the literary scholar Xie Lingyun, the Dongyang Taishou Yuan Hong, and other celebrity giants have glorified the historical starry sky of Taikang. Taikang County is also the birthplace of the Chinese surnames xie, yuan, fu, and He.
Speaking of contemporary celebrities, it is necessary to mention Xu Jiayin, chairman of the board of directors of Evergrande Group, who was born in a village called Jutaigang in Gaoxian Township, Taikang County. After Xu Jiayin started a business and became rich, he never forgot his father and elder in his hometown, he donated 2 million yuan in Jutaigang Village, for this matter, in August 2005, the village also erected a merit monument for him.
