Recently, the 2021 Population Health Academic Annual Conference with the theme of "National Health and Health Promotion - New Horizons, New Horizons and New Perspectives" was held in Nanjing.

Liu Hongyan, deputy director of the Chinese and Development Research Center, said at the meeting that understanding the occurrence, development, influencing factors and control means of population health problems can effectively reduce the impact of health problems on daily life, reduce the impact of health problems on national economic and social development, improve the quality of life of the masses, and meet the people's yearning for a better life.

Zhai Zhenwu, president of the Chinese Society, pointed out that health is the eternal pursuit of mankind, and this annual meeting aims to emphasize the strategic goal of national health in China and the fair and accessible health promotion services for all people. To achieve this goal, it needs to be based on two aspects: health services should benefit the whole population; health services should cover the entire life cycle.

Yan Hong, a first-level inspector of the Department of Population Monitoring and Family Development of the National Health and Health Commission, said at the meeting that China's population development is undergoing phased changes, and strengthening fertility support and maternal and child health research is an important cornerstone for improving the quality of the population; population aging is a common topic facing the world today, and strengthening elderly health research is the due meaning of actively responding to population aging. Improving the population service system with the focus on "one old and one small", promoting the realization of a moderate fertility level and actively coping with the aging of the population, is related to the great rejuvenation and sustainable development of the Chinese nation.

During the conference, experts and scholars from all walks of life conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as "population health and social development", "fertility support and maternal and child health", "health promotion policy and practical experience sharing", and put forward a number of innovative suggestions and ideas for promoting the construction of "Healthy China". The conference was hosted by the Chinese and Development Research Center, the Population Health Professional Committee of the Chinese Society, and the Population Society of Jiangsu Province, and co-hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Health Development Research Center, the Institute of High-quality Development Evaluation of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and the Institute of Population Research of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
