I am reaching out to you today to see if you could provide some guidance. Your blogs on the community have always been very helpful.
My customer is moving from CRM 7 to S/4HANA. In CRM, they had several table extensions to the BP data model done using AET.
In S/4HANA, AET is not supported and currently, there’s no app to do Node extensibility.
The recommendation from the colleagues in product is to use EEWB instead of AET, but the functionality in EEWB is much less powerful than AET (can’t change the key fields, no guid created in the extension table etc).
I went through this blog post (https://blogs.sap.com/2018/02/28/s4hana-for-customer-management-1.0-introduction-from-technical-point-of-view/), but it doesn’t cover table extensions.
I was wondering if doing a Custom Business Object could be an option, and then extend the genil model to use the CBO, since the WEB UI will still be used.
I am surprised that even internally at SAP, I don’t see many customers facing this problem.

this is actually a frequently asked question, and the answer is unfortunately: No, AET is not supported for table extensions of the Business Partner. (You can still use it for the [former CRM, now Service] business transactions.) And a second No: There is no table extensibility for legacy business objects, and it’s not going to come. And another No: Custom business objects are not recommended to replace table extensions.
The Business Partner is no longer a CRM object, but a central S/4 object, therefore the (formerly Customer Management, now Service) development team is out of the game here.
