Nanjing on October 11, it was warm and cold. At 9:45 a.m., a prayer was held at the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing.

In front of the statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, people stood in solemnity, silence, and bowed three times; they presented flower baskets and ribbons to the statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen; and then went around to sleep for a week. The descendants of the ancestors of the Xinhai Revolution and representatives of Taiwan compatriots who participated in the commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution commemorated and paid tribute to Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of the great democratic revolution, in a short and solemn ceremony.

Talking about the visits, Zheng Qisheng, executive director of the Institute for Cross-Strait Reunification and Integration in Taiwan, told a China News Agency reporter that although he had visited the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum many times, his mood was the same every time. In his view, as an important figure linking the two sides of the strait, Sun Yat-sen's beliefs and goals need to be jointly remembered by compatriots on both sides of the strait.

Zheng Qisheng said that under the manipulation of the DPP's "de-sinicization," many young people in Taiwan do not know about Sun Yat-sen, which makes him feel sad. The purpose of remembering Sun Yat-sen is to awaken young people on both sides of the strait, especially young people in Taiwan, to identify with the Chinese nation. "Mr. Zhongshan's exhortation that 'the revolution has not yet succeeded, comrades still have to work hard' should be borne in mind by young people on both sides of the strait."

Among the visiting groups, there was also no shortage of "post-90s" Taiwanese youth, and Lan Hao, a Taiwanese student at Tsinghua University, was one of them, and this was his first visit to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum.

He said: The Xinhai Revolution led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen had a far-reaching impact. After the Xinhai Revolution, the people of Taiwan, who were still under Japanese colonial rule, strengthened their belief in resisting the colonialists, including luo Fuxing and Jiang Weishui, who later were influenced by Sun Yat-sen's national revolutionary ideas.

Taisheng Lin Bingru also told reporters that the second time he came to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, compared with the previous pure sightseeing, this time he had more awe in his heart. The importance of the Xinhai Revolution and Sun Yat-sen to the historical development of the two sides of the strait is self-evident, but it was snubbed in Taiwan. The mainland can retain the spirit and faith of Sun Yat-sen and the feelings of remembering the martyrs of the Xinhai Revolution, which makes it very touched.

During their stay in Nanjing, the members of the delegation also visited the Nanjing Museum of Modern Chinese History, where the Exhibition of Historical Materials of Sun Yat-sen and the Provisional Government of Nanjing exhibited a large number of historical photos and cultural relics from the Xinhai Revolution and the Nanjing Provisional Government.

Huang Zhixian, host of Taiwan's online political discussion program, told reporters that during her schooling, Sun Yat-sen's "Founding Strategy" and "Three People's Principles" needed to be memorized. The blueprint planned in Sun Yat-sen's "Founding Strategy" has now been basically achieved by the mainland, and some parts have far exceeded it.

She said that Dr. Sun Yat-sen pursued national reunification. The China that the Xinhai Revolution wanted to save included not only the mainland but also Taiwan. If Taiwan today still believes in the spirit of Sun Yat-sen, we need to face up to this point. "Only by restoring the real history can we understand what the spirit of Dr. Sun Yat-sen is, and can we better realize this spirit." (End)
